We can guess they knew what Karl would do to expose the lane by putting in 2 PGs with Harrington and Gallinari (as it is very scout-able, much evidence), and further how he'd pull Dalembert/Camby away from the rim. Plus, it's their job to create and/or advise on the game plan, so they at least must present opponent tendencies, plan options, etc. Now whether they agreed to sit Dalembert or not isn't known. But I would hope they discussed all the options should Karl go small.
It seems to me that out of 30 teams, on an average year, you have 5 true contenders for the title, 5 teams that dont have a chance in the world, and 20 teams in the mediocre middle. The fact that the Rockets stay in the perpetual middle 20 is to say either: 1) 2/3's of the teams in the NBA should fire their staffs and tank or 2) Where the Rockets are is where most NBA teams are, so its not failure to be there. The passion to want your team to succeed is tremendous. To scrutinize them to death is natural. But as I see it, even when you have a competent organization, it takes a bit of luck to get into those few top 5 or so teams that has a legitimate chance to win at all. Yes, its frustrating. Its easy to place blame. Its easy to say "what if..." But even those top contenders walk a thin fence in that a number of things beyond their control can derail them from their thrown and place them among the 2nd tier want-a-be's. I acknowledge that you are much more into basketball than I. More passionate. More enthusiastic. More knowledgeable. And grow tired more quickly than I as the years go by and no progress in our relative position in things is noticeable. The more you care, the more it hurts.
I blame McHale. To continuously play Ppat at the 5 next to Scola eventhough it has been proven that it does not work.
I love how little CFs know about basketball. Both centers injured and they complain about PP at the 5. Hai guyz maibee dey kud hav puut lawry at canter?
