we didn't run run run dada - we had 5 fast break points. Let me repeat: 5 FAST BREAK point. That's not run run run! That's half court half court half court. You are right about the TO's though. We won today because we took good shots instead of coughing the ball up. That's the number one reason. And hitting our ft's more than LA did.
Before the team can run, make sure they secure the rebound. The mentality of teams that play the fast break often is that they assume that the rebound is theirs. Chuck, Luis and Carl should secure that ball.
Running to me means getting up and getting some early offense, not necessarily about fast breaking. It just means....to...well....RUN.....play at a faster tempo. And they did it all game long. DD
They got into their offense earlier, took the first wide open shot, less hesitating, they played faster..... Not all game, the Lakers are going to force you into half court, more often..... And, isn't it amazing how much better AB plays when he is free to play his dribble penetration game..... DD
That is more coaching than something to do with being Yao-less. If Artest or Brooks sit there and dribble out the clock and chuck up a prayer (Steve/Cuttino Ball) we are going to lose every time. Although I will say that giving the guards the green light to drive and dish was partly due to Yao's absence.
No, it's not. In Game 2, AB penetrated only to find trees standing around the lane. Camped out. He couldn't shoot...and the perimeter defenders did not follow him down, because they didn't need to....so no one was open on the perimeter to kick to either. None of that in Game 4.
And the Lakers being spread all over the floor, they have to pick their poison, pack the paint and give up the 3 ball, or guard the shooters and give up layups to AB and Lowry. This Rocket's team is a better matchup for the Rockets....we have a significant advantage in speed......on the perimeter. It would be fantastic to knock them out without 2 of our best players. DD
I'm talking about the speed/haste with which they set up their offense is more due to coaching. Yao not being on the floor changes the entire dynamic/capability of the offense, which is a point I conceded if you read the last line.
Like Golden State with the Mavs a couple of years back. The matchup the Lakers are getting their ass kicked at is the PG position....so exploit it.
Let's just take this a game at a time, enjoy the effort being put forth by the Rockets, and hope game 5 goes our way.
