Um, first off, players under contract are strongly discouraged, if not outright prohibited depending on the circumstance, from talking about other teams and their desire to play there.

Also, since we've been chasing him for two years, can you give me links to mainstream media sources that have reported this? There's been a lot of talk here, certainly - but outside of one blurb on ESPN post deadline and a passing reference near the draft last year, the talk of Houston/Stoudemire has been almost nonexistent on a national level. That's not to say trade talks haven't been had, but for whatever reason, the rumors have been maybe 5%, if that, of those linking him to Cleveland/Miami.

I'm not saying the Rockets are necessarily going to get Amare, but you're reading way too much into this comment.

So I guess you dont like being possible contenders cause of a rivalry.......what rivalry is that? I know Stoudemire can be arrogant, selfish and even divaish, but having him on our team would make us legit. Its pretty foolish if you think about it.

Do you want to pay him the max? Having him could make us less legit because we do not have Scola, Battier, or Lowry, much more (picks). It is not a simple win-win trade by math, it could be very bad too if he gets another keen injure. I prefer the Bosh deal or a pick.

Where do you get the idea that he blew off our deal?? First of all, he's not the GM so he have to right to broker any deal. Second of all, there is no way in hell Amare is worth Scola and Battier...you must be stupid to believe in such deal.

I dont think he's worth the max, but if Morey feels he's the right player to contend for the championship, them I'm all for it.

Trading Scola and Battier and drafts picks will hurt but I think Amare is worth it, but giving lowry away is too much. I dont think lowry was part of the deal.

His knee injuries do make me a little nervous, also hes 28. He relies too much on his explosiveness to be a great player. Obviously, I would prefer Bosh over Amare any day, but I dont know what the chances of the Rockets getting Bosh would be.

I thought we weren't able to sign a max player anymore.

Who want the guy, I would much rather go after Bosh, or move up in the draft, than go for Amare Stoudamire....

You're reading too much into a seemingly innocuous comment.

did you really think Amare was going to come to Houston and play behind the shadow of Yao?

they came into the league together, battled for ROY.

no one is going to come to Houston for Houston unless they grew up here.

it's bosh or bust but I think bosh is going to hook up with Wade wherever Wade ends up... and amare is actually going to be left holding the bag.

if Amare were smart he'd actually want to come to Houston, it's a place where he can showcase his abilities and has a chance to win a ring... plus playing with Yao and for Morey is huge visibility here in the US and in China. but that boy aint smart

If by "they grew up here", you really mean "they like not having to pay state income tax", then yes, you are correct.

identify specifically who on the Houston roster is here because of the income tax? our guys are here because we drafted or traded for them. I cant think of one dude who made a choice that revolved around the tax... if I'm wrong set me straight

on the other hand, Greene, Barry, Clyde all had roots in the city that helped bring em here.

and there are 2 other teams in the state that are great teams that also dont pay tax, it's not like Houston is alone in that regard. TBH Dallas is more of a glamor city that Houston to most out of staters

I agree, Amare does not want to play with Houston, Yao, KevMart etc. etc.
He wants to be with guys like LBJ or Wade.....oh well, I'd rather have Bosh anyway. ;)

Not true of any guys on active roster but in years past...

Shandon Anderson decided to come here.
Mo Taylor decided to come here.
Stromile Swift decided to come here.
Scottie Pippen decided to come here and forced a sign and trade to Houston.

None of these worked out but they did decide to play here. We didn't draft or trade for them. Scottie was a "trade" so he could get more money.
