If it wasn't going to be for the better, it's hard to understand why the complaints of the opposition have all been based in lies and deceit.

Absolutely! But I've always been an optimist.

    One might say, hopeful!

A Republican: a person who can't be content with having health insurance unless they know others do not have it.

I'm having a hard time figuring out whether this all over and it is just the media trying to create a thrilling photo finish that is making this look close.

It's all over but the voting. I can't stop laughing at Mojorge's "uphill climb" thread title.

The Supreme Court probably will not take up a health insurance bill unless one or more states files suit claiming exemption for their citizens. However, you must remember the American people will start paying for this puppy immediately yet it will not go into effect until 2013.

Even if the Democrats lose their majority in both houses, this bill will not be repealed in the 2010 term because Obama will veto the attempt. However, by 2012 people will be so fed up with paying for something without benefit, the Congress and new president could well repeal it before it goes into effect.

    Again with the name calling.

You must be out of ammo if that is what you are resorting to.

Name calling = Failure and Retreat (Or rapid redeployment, if you like that better)

This is false information. One problem I have with the tea party is that they are largely misinformed. Some of the health care reform bill goes into effect this year. They will get more benefits as time goes on.

But it isn't true that nothing goes into effect right away.

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cwy1-XyAfmE&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cwy1-XyAfmE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Please watch. This carefully unfolds the time line of when different parts will go into effect.

A ton of the bill will go into effect before the 2012 elections. That includes high risk pools, kids getting covered, insurance providers having to spend 80% on actual health care or refund the client money, high risk pools, no lifetime limits on how much will be paid for, insurance carriers will no longer be able to take policies away from people who are sick.

All of that will go into effect prior to the election in 2012.

You are correct if you consider the letter of the law. However, the parts that affect most Americans doesn't happen until 2013.

There is such a thing as being just plain dumb. You tend not to give us a chance to get used to one dumb thing you've said before you present us with another. Given how many flatly stupid things you post here, it's just human nature to point it out.

Good article. For easy access, here are the provisions that take effect immediately:

When the intellectual reservoir runs dry, the name calling begins. You appear to have descended to that state in fast fashion, yet again.

When every single news outlet is treating HCR as a done deal and you're calling it an uphill battle, what else should anyone conclude but that you aren't very bright?

A GOP/tea party wet dream. Dems in the Senate should make more of the benefits kick in in six months.

See a couple of posts above for benefits that kick in from asap to 6 months.

Thumbs, you need to expand your info sources to at least the major networks.

Every single news outlet is not treating health care deform as a done deal. Not even close. The major news outlets, including the New York Times, are covering it as too close to call, and as uncertain at best.

I challenge you to produce a report from the last 24 hours from a credible, recognized journalistic source that is declaring that the Dems have the votes need to win this thing. If you cannot do it after what you said in your post quoted above, the reason will be obvious.

Here are links to a few of the major news home pages:

    http://www.nytimes.com/
    http://www.cnn.com/
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/
    http://www.foxnews.com/
    http://www.washingtontimes.com/

No outfit of any journalistic repute that I am aware of has openly declared that the Dems have the votes that they need. They might get them. The Dems could still win. But as you can see by the frenetic activity leading up to the vote, this is not in the bag for either side at this time.
