The latest update from 'Roll Call'. The net gain or loss on Thursday was zero.

    Two more days to go.

[RQUOTER]Setbacks Zero Out Gains in Whip Count

House Democrats officially gained two and lost two on Thursday as they continued their painstaking zigzag toward 216 votes and final passage of a sweeping health care overhaul, now likely on Sunday.

Leaders got two pieces of good news, with retiring Science and Technology Chairman Bart Gordon (D-Tenn.) and freshman Rep. Betsy Markey (D-Colo.), who voted "no" on the original House bill, announcing they would back reform this time around. But those gains were offset by the losses of Reps. Michael Arcuri (D-N.Y.) and Stephen Lynch (D-Mass.) who flipped their previous support to opposition.

Lynch, in particular, was a blow to reform supporters, since the former union president had not been on any watch lists of potential vote flippers. He ripped the Senate-passed measure as a “surrender” to insurance companies, and he held fast to his opposition even after a meeting at the White House with President Barack Obama on Thursday afternoon.

    Hoyer Releases Voting Schedule

The House is meeting at 1 p.m. ET Sunday. We're expecting a vote sometime later that day.

The House is also meeting at 9 a.m. ET today and 9 a.m. ET Saturday -- though the vote itself won't come until at least Sunday afternoon (72 hours after it was posted online).

sure, sure, sure. You don't sound bitter at all. It looks like health care reform might actually pass, and you lash out at anything or anyone who that supports it.

That's a bitter sore loser kind of thing to do.

I do agree the Dem party sucks, but at least this might actually get done, and no matter how sucky they are, they aren't the ones trying to stop health care reform that also cuts the deficit.

    Here's an example of bitter...

That is often not the case. The real case is that people who had connections, went to better schools (sometimes because of those connections) make more money.

Trust me, without an inside connection it is next to impossible to get the best highest paying jobs.

I can see the tears rolling down your face as you typed those bitter words.

The great uniter can't even unite his own party without paying some of them off. That fraud is worried about getting re-elected and healthcare reform is what he thinks will allow him to get another term in office. The Dems who are brave enough to stand up and not tow the party line are the ones that you should be proud of.

I'm not proud of anyone who is against the health care reform and would rather keep the status quo.

You keep on claiming not to be bitter but calling people who disagree with you ignorant fools.

This is the exact problem with this whole bill. Its a democrat vs republican, and neither side gives a damn about the American people. I would rather them bring in a single payer system now than endure three decades of continue decline in piss poor healthcare before this pile of crap bankrupts the health industry.

I would rather single payer as well. Sadly when the GOP had their chance to have input or reform health care on their own. They didn't do either became obstructionist, and because the Dems didn't realize it sooner, we are left with this crappy bill.

But as crappy as it is, it is still better than the status quo. It deserves to be passed.

While I think you're over-exaggerating a bit about the effect of this bill, I mostly agree.

It's funny because the right obviously hates it, but so does the left. The only people who like it are those who are completely aligned with the Democratic party. Liberals want something more (single player or public option, etc.) and think this won't suffice. Conservatives hate it passionately.

My worry is that complacency will set in once it gets passed. The government will say "ok, that's done, no more fixing" for another few decades even though this bill is obviously not going to completely reform healthcare as it needs to.

I called people who made a false claim against me ignorant fools.

The problem with you is that you can't comprehend that not everyone who is against this bill is against health care reform.

So this is about Obama winning. Thanks for confirming what I already knew. Obama could join Al Qaeda tomorrow and you'd be down with it.
