Being a citizen has no relevance in allocating funds to make sure a municipality has proper funding for utilities such as clean water and electricity.

This has already been answered already. The U.S. Census itself determined that including a citizenship question would reduce the accuracy and usefulness of the census. That available administrative sources would be a better source for citizenship data.

They should just make the citizenship question be “Yah Mo B There? Yes or no”.

When we cannot establish who is a citizen, we cannot establish who has the right to vote.

    We have no democracy.

You apparently have no idea what the purpose of the Census is or what its data is used for, or even the basic fact that it's anonymous.

There is already a system in place determining who can vote. It has been working well and has been extremely accurate.

We face a bigger threat from foreign powers trying to tamper with our vote count as that has already been attempted in multiple states.

Let's try and focus on what is actually a threat to our democracy.

The Liar in Chief is going to attempt to circumvent the Supreme Court by issuing some form of bizarre "Executive Thingy." His cheerleaders are bellowing, "You go girl!" followed by "Whoops!" My prediction is that the Census, which is already being printed without the citizenship question, will end up in our hands without the citizenship question. Why? In my humble opinion, the 3rd branch of our governmental triad, the judicial system, represented in its penultimate form by the Supreme Court, will not take kindly to this strange attempt by the Head Liar to ignore it, and will toss said attempt into the sewer, where it belongs.

Another *shocked face* moment... trump promoted rush limbaugh's appearance on trump's favorite strategy source fox & friends, and limbaugh spins out a completely ridiculous lie about President Obama, and fox & friends didn't question it...

The biggest threat to our democracy is first-past-the-post.

It's not a partisan issue, either. The only reason we can't tackle it is because both parties have a vested interest in keeping it.

It's not a partisan issue because the GOP is now trying to destroy democratic institutions in favor of white primacy-autocracy-oligarchy - you can't even have a conversation about proportional representation or ranked choice without a core agreement on democracy at all.

But anyway, from what I can tell the proponents of getting rid of plurality-winner-take-all voting are almost exclusively from the left or at least the center, so while there are many fine people on both sides - it's a misnomer to say it's not partisan when one party would almost certainly block it at all costs.

My post was meant more as a critique of the actual parties, not "the left" vs "the right" ideologies or voters. The parties themselves (as organizations/businesses) benefit tremendously from the lack of competition caused by first-past-the-post.

Liberals versus conservatives may be divided on the issue for a few reasons. One of which is openness to change and new ideas of which liberals are more inclined, but another factor is that liberals are currently the ones getting stomped on more by things like voters disenfranchisement, gerrymandering, weighted voting, etc.

My guess is that if liberals were the ones who had tipped the scales to the point where conservatives were underrepresented in elections/democracy, then liberals probably wouldn't be so concerned with democratic reforms and conservative interest in it would likely be a lot higher.
