Word on the the street is the Biographical Directory of Federal Judges, maintained by the Federal Judicial Center, has already set aside a space for all of Clarence "Uncle" Thomas' important judicial discourse: Supposedly, they bought two in case he has a late-life spurt of productivity.
Calling Justice Thomas ‘Uncle Clarence’ exposes the rotten sham that is the progressive movement https://nypost.com/2022/06/27/calli...rotten-sham-that-is-the-progressive-movement/
No. Racism isn't okay. Not at all what I was saying. Do you believe it's racism when he is called Uncle Clarence? I think part of it depends on the experiences of those calling him Uncle Clarence. No matter what your belief on that issue is, if Clarence Thomas is the model for injustice stemming from progressive racism, you've already lost. Thomas had benefited directly from progressive civil rights legislation. He's ruled consistently against the policies that benefitted him and served those in power. If there is a point to make, Thomas is a poor example to try and make it. And it certainly doesn't outweigh the goals, achievements, or claims of the progressive movement.
Only person I’ve seen call him that is Samuel L Jackson. I missed the part where Sam Jackson is chairing the progressive caucus. The only other person quoted in this is a Canadian. I didn’t know foreign actors can be part of the progressive caucus. This article is highly misleading and attributes Sam Jackson’s tweet getting trending on Twitter to the progressive caucus and during this article when the article realizes there’s no real connection here they start then just insinuating that the progressives have the responsibility to step up and defend Clarence Thomas for some reason. So again I’m left baffled why someone who is so independent would post articles that are blatantly misleading.
My thoughts are that my thoughts don’t matter as a white dude. I know he’s a corrupt judge with extremist Christian nationalist views he imposes in his judicial rulings and his wife is an insurrectionist. But it’s not my place to call him an Uncle Tom. However if a black person feels the need to confront Thomas on race related issues along these lines, I fully believe their opinions on Thomas in regards to race should be heard. But that’s not going to come from me and no Democratic representatives shouldn’t level that title towards him. Sam Jackson can say whatever the hell he wants.
You received a typical reply from him when he really doesn't want to answer. He knows the article is misleading, in my opinion. He also very likely knows, again in my opinion, that Thomas is married to an extremist who apparently had some involvement in the January 6th insurrection, yet Thomas has given no indication that he will recuse himself from any decision pertaining to that event. Thomas played a key role in the Roe v Wade decision, and used it to declare that there is other settled law and other decisions that he would overturn in the future, if he can get a majority of the justices to agree with him. Does @Os Trigonum address any of that? No, not that I have seen. He posts a defense of Thomas against what he calls, via his cut and paste, "the rotten sham that is the progressive movement." You could have replied using half a dozen words, or less, but instead took a couple of minutes to give a more substantial reply. So what do you get in return? Probably what this post will get from him. lol
from 2014 Congressman stands by calling Clarence Thomas an 'Uncle Tom' https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...-thompson-clarence-thomas-uncle-tom/81226252/

I don't suppose Congressman Thompson's personal dislike for Justice Thomas would motivate any desire to go after Missus Uncle Thomas
