Memphis Grizzlies Waive Forward Scott Padgett Memphis, Tennessee – Memphis Grizzlies President of Basketball Operations Jerry West announced today the team has waived forward Scott Padgett pursuant to a contract buyout. In seven games with Memphis, Padgett averaged 0.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 4.7 minutes. He was acquired by Memphis from Houston in exchange for Jake Tsakalidis on Feb. 13 and in 31 total games, averaged 1.5 points, 1.7 rebounds and 7.5 minutes. sucks for him it looked like he really wanted to be part of any team and help contribute. he played a good role in the team two years ago it was unfortunate he couldnt replicate that sort of ability this year on the rockets otherwise he may have still been on the team. his shot has seen better days and same with his rebounding and defense. i think its too late for him to be signed by any team and make the playoff roster. the nba has a deadline when it comes to the playoffs and the roster.
Kevin Willis hasn't been on anyone else's roster all year, so the deadline doesn't apply to him. It does apply to Padgett, however, because he has been in the league, and he won't be able to be on anyone's playoff roster now.
