aw... the only thing better than the election being over is this sig will have to be modified. You need to put it in quotes or something. Like a ring of fame for the sig.
“The collapse of the administration’s rationales for war, which became apparent months after our invasion, should never have come as such a surprise. … In this case, the ‘liberal media’ didn’t live up to its reputation. If it had, the country would have been better served.” So true. We all blame the administration or the war, but the lack of oversight is almost more disturbing than the plan-slash-lack-of-plan. Previously-thorough and sane media organizations are culpable, as are the congressional democrats who abdicated their role as overseers. Which is why I find it odd that anyone who even vaguely opposes this war could vote for The Corpse of Hillary Clinton - or John Kerry, or John McCain or whoever; given their vote, their roles, and their weak rationalizations for relinquishing oversight. It's on their hands too. Media too. Public too. So many people s*** the bed on this one. Which is why good judgment will beat experience in this election, although getting out is not the same as "wishing we had never gone in." Obama is going to struggle with that over the next months. But it is kind of amazing that Scott Freaking McClellan is now a harmonious part of the chorus of Bush Administration detractors. I suppose you could just say that we're all sheep bleating the same song, but man, it is uncanny how everyone points to Bush's stubborn affection for 'received wisdom,' aka 'non-evidence based knowledge', aka 'inability to discern things that are true from things he wishes were true'. That appears to be the most toxic and repeated observation of his management style from ranking, non-partisan participants. (Clarke, O'Neill, McClellan)
Truthiness EDIT: What's even worse is how this clown-like attitude was so easily abused by his advisors and supporters.
Thanks, basso. But that didn't work either. It's the darndest thing. No matter which browser I use I can get to any site but the politico one. For the first few days I thought it was down, but people keep linking to it (as in this story).
Does this book contain an apology to the American people? To the slain soldiers? I didn't need Scott McClellan to "reveal" this stuff to me. If he had, I dunno, spoken up even a single time before Bush became one of the lamest lame ducks in history, THAT might have been worth discussing. I suppose he didn't feel it would do any good. Bush must be a hell of a guy if McClellan still feels loyal to him.
Is this a joke post? He's not a part of the administration and waited until he had a book deal done and a book written and ready to hit the shelves and you chalk it up good genes and a solid conscience?
looks like ari may have gained some weight. <embed src="http://www.cbs.com/thunder/swf/rcpHolderCbs-prod.swf" width="370" height="361"allowFullScreen="true" FlashVars="link=http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/i_video/main500251.shtml?id=4134011n&releaseURL=http://release.theplatform.com/content.select?pid=KdISWCZc1elD5_g1a9t6cdYmgU8db29N&partner=newsembed&autoPlayVid=false&prevImg=http://thumbnails.cbsig.net/CBS_Production_News/721/596/eve_couricfleischer0528_480x360.jpg" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />
I think we're starting to see some of those responses you were talking about. Impeach Bush!! Hurry!!!!
Bull. The choice was not between a fly-over photo-op and a photo-op on the ground. The choice was between a photo-op and working on the problem. God forbid Bush actually work on a problem... or even have someone suggest he work on a problem. No, they immediately chose message like they always do... and only then did the choice become which photo-op. That they framed the decision in this way... that they were completely incapable of seeing any other avenue... tells you everything you need to know about this administration. And on the flyover photo-op, I believe McClellan. I am convinced Rove immediately thought of this photo from 9/11: Which was later used by the Republicans as a fundraising prop. Compare that to Katrina: They wanted to show the President was concerned about the people affected by Katrina just like they wanted to show a President taking action after 9/11. The first photo worked for them, so why not the second?
