    seems you are correct twhy77

    again from Josh --

Sheesh, what has the world come to if you can't trust the Boston Globe?

Over the last day or so, we've been reporting how Mass GOP senate candidate Scott Brown said he was unfamiliar with the "Tea Party Movement", notwithstanding their campaigning for him and now lots of photos and video of his addressing Tea Party events.

But it seems like the original report in the Boston Globe was just wrong, or at least way overwritten.

The Brown campaign has now provided us with the audio of the exchange the report was based on. And as is often the case, there's a lot of crosstalk and incomplete sentences. But I think the clear reading of Brown's statement is not that he's "unfamiliar" with the Tea Party movement or hasn't heard of it but that he didn't accept or wasn't buying the reporter's characterization of it.

The audio is clear that Brown did not want to get into a discussion of Tea Partiers or his relationship or connection to the movement. But he wasn't saying he'd never heard of or wasn't familiar with the Tea Party movement.

Kudos to TPM for clearing that up.

The Boston Globe is such a joke. I'm familiar with them due to sports reporting, and they are terrible.

Scott Brown can actually make this a race underscores how bad a candidate Martha Coakley is. Hopefully the 24 hours a day negative ads she is running will turn people off even more.

But I doubt Brown will win, after all this is the state that keeps sending Barney Frank to Washington. :(

This is a pretty interesting race. Just wondering if people think that if Brown wins healthcare reform is dead?

No. People in MA have already said they will do everything they can to delay his certification until after the vote.

Especially since, you know, he was for healthcare reform before he was against it.

On MSNBC this morning, they were saying since MA already has a healthcare, the people of the state aren't too gungho about supporting a federal plan

You do know that you can be for healthcare reform and still be against this specific instance of healthcare reform legislation?

Can Coakley pull a Coleman if the vote is close?

Yes, I’m sure one can. It’s a shame republicans never put forth their own ideas and, you know, maybe negotiate reform in good faith.

If this is a close election I can almost guarantee the loser pulls a Coleman and keeps it going for as long as possible.

Keep in mind that the drawn out Coleman-Franken race was due to some particulars in the MN election laws. I don't know much about MA election laws but they might have mechanisms that prevent something like that from happening.

I'm thinking Coakley really doesn't want to win. Check this out: http://washingtontimes.com/weblogs/...-coakley-devout-catholics-probably-shouldnt-/

I haven't listened to the audio to verify the transcript is correct, but if she actually said that?!? She seems really Palinesque in her answer. So a Catholic doctor would be advised not to work in an emergency room in a Catholic or any other private hospital because of the separation of church and state? Is that your final answer?

Ken Pittman: Right, if you are a Catholic, and believe what the Pope teaches that any form of birth control is a sin. ah you don’t want to do that.

Martha Coakley: No we have a separation of church and state Ken, lets be clear.

Ken Pittman: In the emergency room you still have your religious freedom.

Martha Coakley: (……uh, eh…um..) The law says that people are allowed to have that. You can have religious freedom but you probably shouldn’t work in the emergency room.

D'oh! Just noticed I wrote "write" instead of 'right", lousy dyslexia...

She is correct that if you are in a job that requires you to do something that goes against your religion you probably shouldn't be doing that job. For instance if I follow kosher rules I probably shouldn't work at a pork processing plant and under a free society you aren't forced to.
