If anything, the REAL PROBLEM for the Rockets is their FREE THROW SHOOTING!

Watching T-Mac out on the court, you can tell that he is still limping around so I am assuming that is affecting his shooting. But as long as he still commands the double-team and passes out to the open shooters, then I am happy.

However, we really need to fix our free throwing shooting or else we are going to get killed in the playoffs. As much as I love to bring up the fact that Finley screwed us in game 5 against Dallas in the 04 playoffs, we still had a chance to win that game, but Yao and Mac missed crucial free throws in the final 2 minutes of the game. We can't have that happening in the playoffs again when every game is close to the end. I just hope the coaching staff makes the team shoot some extra free throws in practice.

Yao was actually 10 for 10 from the free throw line tonight. T-Mac's still struggling, he missed 2 out of 3 when he was fouled on a three point attempt.

“Rafer’s playing unbelievable,” said McGrady, who has made 23 of 73 shots in his past five games. “With my offense now, I’m struggling. I’m struggling with my shot. I don’t know what’s going on with me offensively. With Rafer playing so well and other guys playing so well, it’s really a great feeling to have all the pressure on you offensively. I suck right now. I get it going every now and then, but through the course of the game, I suck.”

He's clearly frustrated with his performance. Hopefully he'll find his way out of the shooting slump. It startled me when I first read it. Anyone know why he's struggling?

T-Mac really needs to stop hanging out at the three point line. He looked good shooting from 15 feet off the curl today. He looked really good when he cut to the basket without the ball and got a feed from Rafer.

I don’t mind if T-Mac shoots 31.5% once in a while as long as does not stagnate the offense. He seems to be fitting in better than he did earlier. However, my only complaint with him is that he takes too many shot attempts when he’s having an off night. He took 21 shots tonight, which was more than anyone on either team.

But even though he shot alot, they were shots he is supposed to take within the offense or actually driving to the basket. Sure they missed, but I think a T-Mac drive and layup would rank pretty high on the "I'll take that every time" list.

He was driving at least 50% tonight. I think he realizes his shot wasnt falling much going into the all-star break so he got down and figured it was time to start driving. Those shots didnt go in either, but like I said, most would take a T-Mac drive in a heartbeat.

I'd agree if you were just talking about the 2nd half of the game. The first half he took 3 attempts that were not jumpers and missed 2 of them, shooting 2/9 for the half. Second half he also took 3 shots in the paint, but made 2 of them in route to a 4/10 half, leaving him at 6/19 for the night.

Anyway a single bad shooting game wouldn't really bother me, but he has been struggling for at least 5 games now with his shot. Maybe that is adjusting to the system, but his scoring certainly isn't down because he is taking significantly less shots than before. As long as this isn't a health related problem I suspect he will break out of the slump. If it turns out to be a long term health related problem we could be in trouble. To Tmac's credit he does contribute in other ways, but in the end we will need more than 12-14 pts per game from our $20 million shooting guard, especially if he is going to keep shooting around the same number of attempts as Yao.

I'm happy to see other guys step up though, and talent that we added this offseason is paying off, even with James and Francis being busts to this point.

T-Mac is not a good 3 point shooter. Don't know why a guy continues to do something he is not good at. He should stick to the mid-range jumpers and creating his own shot and work on the FTs.
