Next week's winner between the Texans and Ravens will effectively have a 2 game lead in the standings due to the tie breaker.
You guys still feel the same way about Indy after that game yesterday? Anyway, huge win for Seattle yesterday. The Pats have a cakewalk of a schedule leading up to their game with us, so every loss pinned on them is good. If Denver wins tonight, every team that matters in the AFC will be 3-3 besides the Texans and Ravens. That will make next week's game all the more important.
EVERY game is important. One--no, any player or fan shouldn't say that a game is more or less important than another. We should win ALL, we should lose none. Why would they play better against the Colts than they would against the Packers? We should cheer the team on in both and the team should play well in both. There is no difference.
Swoly, I don't do this very often because I don't like being perceived as a snobby poster, but seriously......and I say this with the greatest of respect.......your football takes are so mind-numbingly senseless that they're really not even worth addressing.
how do you not see that a game against a division opponent...where winning not only means putting another mark in your W column but also putting a mark in a division rival's L column....is more important than winning a game against a team from another conference?
Because the division (or even conference, Ravens, New England) rival records aren't important... maybe if... and only IF, the records are the same at the end of the season. You shouldn't have to worry about that if you take care of your own business. It's not just football, ima, it's in every sport... even basketball or pshhh, soccer. Take care of your business. Worry about everyone else when you play them.
And if we beat Baltimore, we'll have a 2-game lead on every team in the conference. I wish they had acquitted themselves better last night; but I'll take a SNF/NBC thrashing for six straight days if, on the 7th day, we kick-stomp the Ravens. Last night's game was pure image; Sunday's game separates men from not men.
(BTW, not really related at all but I fell asleep for maybe... 15-20 minutes during the DAL-BAL game yesterday. I have 4-month old twins, people. When I woke up, Dallas was on what would be their (near) game-tying last drive. But I totally read the score wrong (again: twins) and thought Dallas was winning, 31-23. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why Garrett was going for it on several 4th downs - or why the announcers weren't up in arms about it - but I kind of admired it. The lesson, folks: never have twins.)
Swoly, I'm assuming the Texans aren't going to be perfect. No team has ever gone 19-0. You can say that every game means the same if you're in a bubble...but in the real world, there are certain games that mean more...particularly division games when winning a division means a playoff berth.
LOL, this time last year, my twins were 1 month... DVR the noon games, try to put them down for a nap around 1 or 1:30, then start watching the game. Hang in there, man. It gets easier.
MadMax, the game against GB was particularly important because we learned our major weaknesses when it's a high-caliber QB and what we can do to stop a great LB like AJ Hawk. No game is NOT important. They all are. Win them all.
Oh, did I not mention we also have a 2-year old? I'm actually remarkably lucky - the 2-year old is like clockwork: 7:30pm, he's down for 12 hours. His naps come right at 12 and he's good for minimum 2, usually 3.5 hours. And I don't want to jinx it, but the twins have been pretty much down for 8-9 hours by 8pm the last week, week and a half. That still translates to a 4am wake-up call, which is why I'm legitimately hating the prime time games - but I'm not complaining.
If only AJ Hawk was their best LB... Watt is an elite defensive player, and most of the talk today is rightly about Rodgers - but if that's indicative of how Clay Mathews plays - he's the best defensive football player in the game. He personally disrupted the entire 1Q for the Texans. He was everywhere. I was very impressed.
Baltimore's defense is getting decimated with injuries. Ray Lewis most likely done for the year with a torn triceps, LaDarius Webb most likely done for the year with a torn ACL, and Haloti Ngata going to miss a last a couple of weeks with a leg injury. The lone bright spot is that Terrell Suggs could be looking to return to the field soon. Now that week 6 is in the books, he's eligible to come off the PUP list and start practicing with the team. It couldn't be coming at a better time for them.
injuries to key players didn't help us much against the Packers... as a matter of fact.. neither did home field advantage.
