People forget CP3 had a 39 in vertical entering the NBA, could have been a mount-rushmore tier player had he not shredded his knee at 24. It all depends on how well scoot applies himself.
All these people doubting Wemby are going to feel really silly if he becomes an all-time great like the scouts think he may
There are three scenarios for me. 1. Drafting Wembanyama at #1 and offering a max to Harden. 2. Drafting Henderson at #2 and offering a max to Middleton. 3. Trading pick #3, #4, or #5, plus Porter or Martin or both and the Clippers pick for Henderson. Or however much it takes. And offering a max to Middleton lol... I'm not leaving the building without Wembanyama or Henderson. There's a 14% chance of getting Victor. So there's an 86% chance of getting Henderson. Young assets and picks, I up the offer until the team at 2 blinks.
Might depend who gets them. Charlotte already has LaMelo & is generally stacked with guards/small forwards, for example.
If it's a team with an established point guard they will. Max to Middleton a mistake? Getting an all-star to anchor a team with no clout costs money. In 3 years you move on. Who would you offer the money to?
I would try to kick the can down the road and not spend max money on players who aren't top 20 players in the league. The upcoming free agent class looks incredibly weak. If someone were willing to trade the no. 1 or no. 2 pick, I would offer anyone except Sengun (who will soon be a top 20 player in the league). Or, if someone who picks no. 1 or 2 is willing to trade someone who is really good because they play the same position, then try to go for that. But paying max money to very good, but not franchise-altering players like Middleton is how one ends up on the mediocrity treadmill. And anyway, Milwaukee has his Bird rights, so they can always offer more (I think - but I may be wrong). I just don't see how paying 40 million a year to a guy who will be 32 years old when next season starts makes any sense for us.
I wouldn't mind having Middleton on the Rockets but if this year is indicator of his durability at his current age it's a pretty big risk
One thing I learned is the NBA has become so competitive players fall off real hard and fast now (except Lebron). I def wouldnt pay Middleton a long term deal and besides Mil will pay to try to keep Giannis around.
Middleton not top 20 but Sengun will be? Guy answer the question. Who's your franchise altering free agent? Middleton is a champion btw. Idk what treadmill we're on but mediocre is way the **** above ours.
Man it frustrates me how much people forget the way Paul started his career... Hell he was even underrated over the past several years of his career largely cuz people hate his flopping, but if not for his knee, I think he was easily on pace to be the GOAT PG.
"OK guy." I don't see a franchise-altering free agent in 2023-2024, which is why our cap space is less valuable than people might think. Maybe if we are lucky, we could try and get a trade done with a team that wants picks and wants to get rid of a disgruntled star...and trade that star into our cap space. But those usually also come with warts attached. At this point, I think we will be best off to get lucky in the draft (1 or 2 pick), develop our own young talent, and spend some of the cap space on solid veterans, without trying to chase max players who really shouldn't be max players.
Buddy, you don't like a post feel free to move on. At least have the decency to throw a name into the debate if you planned on complaining about mine. Btw a certified scorer, all-star coming here is absolutely franchise altering. Have you not seen the last 3 seasons?
