If they're worried about Scoot's fit as a guard who needs the ball in his hands and who may struggle to play off ball, then isn't that concern even greater for Amen, whose jump shot is even worse? Like if Portland is dumb enough to pass on Scoot because their sole focus is on fit around Dame, how is Amen a better fit? I don't see the logic in that.
Portland already has Anfernee Simon who is pretty damn good. I'd bet they may go Whitmore or Walker at 3 if they dont trade the pick for someone who covets Henderson. If Scoot Henderson does indeed fall into our lap i'll hope that A) he can someday be an efficient 3 pt shooter and B) that this bad shooting team gets better in that regard and rewards his hard work as a set up man.
I think it's a real possibility for the Rockets as is Brandon Miller. The only person who won't fall to 4 potentially is Wemby. Keep in mind the Banchero stock didn't raise to the level it did until like 24 hours before the draft when some of the workouts, interviews, etc. finally got flushed out, and there was a drastic last minute change. I also don't think Portland won't take Scoot because he is apparently a PG, and Lillard is apparently a PG. Lillard is more of a scoring guard most of the time anyways, and PG's often take a bit longer to develop. They could see Scoot as a great understudy for Lillard and think they have the ability to play together at the very least like Harden and CP3 played together or any of the other teams that have had two ball dominant guards sharing the backcourt with each other.
Sure but Rozier is the size of a PG and Ball is not only more the size of what a SG is supposed to be, but he's a better shooter than Rozier too. If you gave Ball a PG that could take some of the pressure off of him, maybe he stays healthy AND maybe he gets some more easy 3's. He's almost as good at catch and shoot 3's as KPJ...he just doesn't get many because he has to do everything himself. Honestly, the fit between Henderson and Ball makes A LOT more sense than the potential fit between Henderson and Jalen Green....because you can't have 2 ball dominant guards who can't shoot. Let Henderson be the ball dominant non shooting guard getting open shots for Ball and I think he looks a lot better, especially since Ball can also create for others.
Scoot Henderson and Amen Thompson seem to be getting a lot of scrutiny. If anyone wants to know why I want Henderson on the Rockets - go watch how he played and conducted himself when he played Wemby head to head. He lead his team to victory, he went right at Wemby - and anyone that doubts Henderson will be a solid shooter is full of nonsense. Both Henderson and Wemby will be solid perimeter shooters.
LaMelo is the all around good player: shooting, passing, rebounding regardless of size. The greatest ability is availability. Problem is that the Hornets are tired of his injuries.....not that Rozier stays healthy, but Rozier is like Reggie Jackson. You don't want them being your number one PG. I have Scoot, Rozier and Cole Anthony platooning at 1 & 2 in Charlotte. Cole Anthony is insurance in case Scoot is having trouble understanding NBA defenses. Hornets: Scoot Rozier Cody Martin or Kelly Oubre Miles Bridges Mark Williams Nurkic/Simon's offset Siakim contract. It's just too good for all teams. Raptors are enamored with Amen..... Not fighting the loss of VanVleet, Gary Trent. They want Scottie Barnes running things. Siakim becomes expendable at a lower cost replacement in Scottie and his rookie contract. They love the Amen qualities....that's their M.O. Flynn Simon's Amen Barnes Nurkic Portland loves Ewbanks at Center. Just saying it works for everyone too perfect. Portland loved what Sharpe brought at the end of the year. Byebye Simon's. Magic have their core on rookie contracts and can absorb the Gordon Hayward contract.
If you believe what Mitch Kupchak (President of Basketball Operations for the Hornets) said, positional fit will matter and the Hornets already have their point guard in LaMelo Ball. That points towards Brandon Miller going #2. Assuming it is Kupchak making the decision.
Probably - but if you believe what I have heard from a few sources, the Rockets don't have a big grade difference between Henderson and Thompson. Henderson is a better fit as a shooter - but Thompson is a better fit defensively next to Green. It is still early - lets see what happens.
@Bobbythegreat I see Cam Reddish is a free agent but they could go: Dame Keon Johnson Shaedon Sharpe Siakim Eubanks or Dame Sharpe Kevin Knox Siakim Eubanks
A lot of people say a lot of things this time of silly season. Magic were high on Jabari until they weren't on draft night. Often a ploy to get those who want Brandon Miller to offer up. Magic wanted Houston to bite on that bait last year. Brandon Miller gun issue drops him to us IMHO. Im good with us taking Miller at number 4.....or trading out
Scoot has more value than anyone else not named Wemby, so even if they dont keep him long term, they can always get maximum value out of him
I don't think it's safe to believe what any of them say this time of year, it's lying season. Also, it's weird that some are so sold on Henderson playing next to another weak shooting ball dominant guard like Jalen Green but totally against Henderson paired with a 6'7 guard who can play both on and off ball at an elite level. Odd right?
