The kpj super fans like @Verbal Christ and @ApacheWarrior were also the most vocal about supposed SOFs that hardly existed. No one is celebrating this but it is worthwhile to point out the irony that it turns out they were the actual toxic ones who bootlicked a psychotic criminal and put down anyone who disagreed. It’s time to put these frauds in their place.
Still attacking others like a rabid dog instead of an ounce of contrition. You are no different than your loverboy kpj.
I don't know if you know my posting history but I'm definitely not a KPJ stan just to be clear. This isn't a good look. No one should feel shame or *contrition" because they were fans of a player before a horrible incident. Domestic abuse is very serious. Attempted murder is very serious. Saying that posters here need to reflect because they are somewhat culpable or are bad judges of character is hindsight bs. The vast majority of people *who were right" started their criticism of KPJ from a on court perceptive and now are claiming to be morally superior judges of character because their basketball opinion coincidentally made them not like KPJ and now can gloat that they are superior in judging character. Saying that a poster is the same as someone who just nearly strangled their significant other nearly to death because of basketball debate is disgusting.
What I said has everything to do with his racist and abusive posting history (most notable about kpj and Sengun) and nothing to do with being a fan of kpj. You can be a fan without being racist and abusive.
This whole incident has been categorically admonished by every single Rocket fan in existence. Any support this young man had prior to yesterday has died with the the indefensible, but now you people who had the profound vision to see a troubled youth and rather than hope for the best expected the worst want to shame and "expose" others without a lick of critical thinking because of what happened prior to then for wanting to give him the benefit of the doubt? Get over yourself. I'll reason with those worthy of the exchanges, but you dont get to cherry pick **** about me and think you have me pegged. Especially when just two months ago the morality police around here was fine with drafting an accomplice to murder and even before that threw a parade for a borderline sexual predator as coach. Kevin Porter Jr failed me and it feels disgusting. He needs to pay his debt to the poor woman he injured first, to the justice system of NYC and then he should re-evaluate his own life and learn how to be an adult in this society before he winds up 6 feet deep. His days here are done and if the details of the assault continue to come out he should probably not see an NBA court ever again. Still not enough right? You tough guys would rather line us all up and spit in our faces to make amends it seems, but I'll never EVER feel ashamed for supporting KPJ or John Lucas, or Mad Max, Eddie Griffin, Rafer because let downs are part of the fanatical. Compile all this evidence of a "racist abuser" and go run to Dave with it or whoever else you keep crying to so they can take me off the platform with your return to "civility" faux outrage - should be easy as you depict it.
I guess this is the cathartic hate thread? There were too many KPJ apologists to list. This isn’t about the fans. It’s about a GM, who subjugated the team for 3 years in favor of this psycho, despite all of the warning signs. He shouldn’t escape accountability for his terrible judgment. This ridiculous.
did it DD? Did enabling him work for his girlfriend? Is this situation good for our team and our reputation as an organization? And have we actually showed any improvement yet, won anything yet? I really don’t understand you.
Yeah, I cringe whenever people say "the tanking worked" as if whatever detriments they did to the team were excusable as long as we got some high draft picks in the past three years.
The irony here that you can't even understand is you are condemning his girlfriend also for making a poor choice. You understand she was duped also> Was she stupid?
Tanking worked or at least it might with our young core of talent. How KPJ's attempted murder of his girlfriend means that aspect of our rebuild is ruined, I don't know. People here b****ing about doing empathetic exercises to examine KPJ's past but at the same time blame literally everyone around him for his actions. So is he personally responsible or not?
No not personally but I dont blame Stone taking a risk on his talent that is literally his job. KPJ failed and we move on, there is no permanent damage done by taking a risk on a talented troubled player. DD
DD, Stone’s job is literally to make good decisions for the team. I’m not saying getting KPJ for nothing and giving him another chance was a bad decision. Giving him the keys to the franchise, sticking with him, even extending him on a big contract after it was clear that he still had serious behavioral problems, those were bad decisions. And those decisions have hurt our organization. It may have even contributed to enabling this kind of behavior off the court. They should have cut him after any of the incidents we are now hearing about. They definitely should have cut him after he drove home in the middle of a game. Instead they gave him a big contract. Stone’s job is to make good decisions. He made really bad decisions when it came to KPJ. I’m not even going to bring up the failed point guard experiment and how that actually hurt our other developmental players. but I guess it’s not worth debating if you can’t see this plain as day.
Actually, there is. I don't think Stone has done a bad job so far identifying player talents (which is ultimately most important for rebuilding), but when you bring on bad apples to the team, you are jeopardizing the culture and development of players. The Rockets brought in two known bad apples (Christian Wood and KPJ), and gave them the keys to the team, letting them do whatever they want. Before joining the Rockets, these guys were not failing to get jobs in this league because of a lack of talent, but because they have severe attitude issues. The Rockets then drafted and brought in impressionable teenagers who were supposed to be mentored and led by these two supposed leaders? Christian Wood is hanging on for dear life for a job in the NBA, and KPJ is likely out of the league entirely, and these guys were leading the Rockets only 1 season ago. What type of message is being communicated about the team here? Stone is still fresh as a GM, so these are his "rookie" mistakes, but I hope he doesn't make the same mistakes again.
I think he took a calculated risk while we were tanking on a troubled kid with all world talent.....it didn't work out but no permanent damage is done, this is Terrance Williams 2.0.....you cut him and move on....with the player you have now. There is nothing permanent about sports....people forget in a week.... People may not like it but we don't matter, his job is to find the best talent and make it work, he has done a pretty good job of that.....some guys don't work out but when we are TANKING there is nothing wrong with taking a look......and while I get some passionate fans are upset, they will calm down...most people don't give a ****. DD
nah he doubled down, tripled down, quadrupled down on that risk. When u take big risks you have to be held accountable for the results. If it worked out he would have been praised. But it didn’t work out and now it’s time to hold him to account. Not make excuses. This isn’t the 2009 Wall Street bailout. You should face consequences when u make bad decisions. And if you can’t see how that has hurt our organizational reputation, I really don’t know what to say. You don’t build your franchise around KPJ and Christian Wood, even if u are tanking.
Horseshit. He was tanking for 3 years, nothing was permanently harmed by taking a shot at a talented kid with a bad past and hoping he would mature - he didn't he will be cut, we have now developed enough players to where it won't matter. That is risk/reward 100%. Risk takers run companies, not every risk pans out, but they don't WALLOW in the ones that didn't they drop them and they move on.....but they take calculated risks....and Stone has done exactly that. He isn't screwing your mom or your sister, he is trying to build a team - and he took a shot at some guys that have checkered past - when we weren't winning anyway.....BIG ****ING DEAL. There is ZERO permanent damage - a new team is formed every year....Leaders take risks, and move on. DD
