Scola will take some time to adjust to the pace of the NBA, but look on the bright side, there is no where to go but up.
yeah, he had a bad game. Give him a little slack. Which foreign rookie came in and contributed right away?
No, but at least he could give him different looks and a strong body. Scola's D needs work, a lot work actually. Many bad habbits, much like Yao in his frist a couple seasons.
Why are you guys even bring up Yao's name? Yao was like 22... as raw as he could get coming from the Chinese basketball league where he played against 6`6 centers. Scola is 27 and played in the Euro league (2nd best in the world) and in the FIBA competition just this summer. Also he had a pretty good showing in the pre-season. You gotta be kidding me if you expected him to get 0 pts and 3 rebs in his NBA debut... Yes, he needs time to adjust but don't use Yao's debut as an excuse for Scola's poor showing.
Ginobili was the MVP of Italian league, and he didnt look good in first 10 games or so as I recalled. Dont get bogged down by just one game. Scola sure has a lot to improve, but I like his chances to be a solid contributor on this team.
Besides his stats, he did alot of other things such as offensive rebounds n created alot of open shots with his passing. Its just 1 game, he will get better.
Ok rook. Quit posting for a while. Before you post again, get your knowledge up by watching some actual games(not sportscenter), and reading some knowledgeable posts from some more of the seasoned posters who actually know what they talking about.
Are people really piling on Scola after one game?! Yao came off the bench and looked awful in his NBA debut. It took him about a month before he really got going. Give the dude some time. He was terrific in the preseason, so he's obviously capable of learning this offense and playing against NBA-level competition.
If he can't even guard RONNY TURIAF and CHRIS MIHM, giving up easy three point plays to them, how the hell do you expect him to guard Boozer? He's simply a foul machine and a horrible defender at this point. If he gets rid of the "foul machine" part of it he at least has a chance to stay on the floor and do something on offense.
