Hey, of course he needs time to adapt, but its not because of that the way he played yesterday.

He never got the ball when open or after pick and rolls, and never let him play one on one in the low post. He needs the ball in his hands to deliver.

Make him a part in the offense, and he will shine...

And yes, he made a couple of silly fouls and also got a rookie call by the ref.

It surprised me that many (most?) of the minutes Scola played were at C replacing Yao. And Adelman chose a very small line up (Yao/Battier/McGrady/James/Rafer) for long stretches.

I have him on my Fantansy team. A great rookie pick than Noah (I thought i had a steal after Big Ben went down during the pre-season game  ).

Without looking at any stat, Chuck Hayes did not suck at all last night.

He had very active hands on defense and pulled down a couple O boards for us last night giving us that extra possesion.

He scored when he had to and has become exceptionally better at knowing his range and finishing.

I feel very comfortable with Chuck out on the floor and until Scola proves he can do better in a non-preseason game it should be Chuck who gets the minutes.

The intensity of the real NBA actions is by far and beyond any level pre season would be. I think that it is even up and beyond the level you get in an Olympic match. Guys know that the NBA buy's their ferraris, porches, hummers, mansions, etc. Spanish leagues, Italina leagues, Greek leagues, are intense, but when NBA "has beens" go into those leagues and average 20 points a game; that should be a red flag to the true level.

Scola played well in the preseason. But, the intensity level is different here in the reg. season. Especially when all of the motors and juices are flowing in the players. Who doesn't want to start the season with a nice tough vicotory.

Scola should be alright - his overall confort level is just a matter of timing and feel for the NBA game. He's a smart player and has proven he knows how to playe basketball.

Yes I was disappointed in how RA used Scola last night. I mean 9 minutes total playing time and he was never involved in the offense. He didn't even get to play with Yao that much which I feel he compliments Yao better than Hayes does. The whole team including Yao looked out of sorts they got better during the 2nd and 3rd Q's but then started to come a part again and got very lucky to get the W in the end. Yao looked lost in the high post and when MJ was in the game they didn't run the offense at all.

I don't expect them to beat the Jazz if they play like this again tomorrow. :(

    I don't agree at all.

Scola is foul prone, not a great defender or rebounder, but he is as intense as anyone out there.

And no, it shouldn't be a "red flag to the true level"... the true level of Scola will come the day he gets the ball in the offense.

Scola will be fine. He was only out there for like 8-9 minutes. I doubt seriously that Yao is going to be playing as many minutes as he did last night all season.

Plus we saw very little of the Hayes/Scola combo because of the size of the Lakers big men. I can pretty much guarantee that will not be the case against Utah. Both Yao and Deke will get less minutes against Utah.

It's a matchup game that Adelman is fiddling with. Just like last night when they said he had made the comment that as long as Kobe was on the floor, Battier would be too.

Scola will get his chance, yall just need patience.

I look for him to make more of a contribution against the Jazz.

Last night, referees were too strict! It was not a good situation for Scola to adjust. If Scola played more minutes, he would be fouled out. I believe Coach A will give him more playtime on the home court. He will get better and better. :)

Scola's defense need improvement and he's not as physical as Hayes. Watching last night...i saw him getting push under the basket although i think there should be foul. But i like what Rick did though...because with Hayes, he wants to maintain the defense of JVG and no drop off whatsoever. This team play some sick defense with no penetration inside because of Yao's presence. Did you see time and time Kobe try to penetrate only to meet Yao again? Scola's weakness is defense and rebounding and not that he won't improve but for now...based on experience Hayes should be the starter. I mean Ginobili first came off the bench didn't he when he first came into the league??? So i mean Scola will be fine off the bench. Had they start Scola, the Lakers might exploit him..who knows.

    Uhmmm,

do you mean great rebounder like Barkley, do you mean great defender like Rodman? There aren't many greats to that claibur. Great to me is just such a personalized word. It means different things to everyone, no?

But, I am looking for Scola to be a Battier type of guy. Numbers that won't blow your mind away. But, I think his passing and hustle will be quite relevant. He should be a guy that without a career game, should get you 20 pts several nights during the season. And he should be a guy who could contribute to a win scoring 7 or so points on other nights.

Of course this is all of my imaginations doing. For, he hasn't done a single thing in the regular season, but get 3 rebounds and a few foul in 9 minutes.

But, that is what I'm anticipating. Am I prone to a let down?

If you have the foresight to know, you are just a talented talent evaluator. Better than me, for I'm just a fan with tons of hope for mine Rockets.

    Peace Bro,

Well i think Scola played alright in the pre-season, but for some reason he looked like a fish out of water last night. He was confused, nervous (maybe) and didn't know what his job was. I am pretty sure after a few more games, he will the same old Luis Scola that everyone expects him to be.
