You're an idiot, and I hate you See, is there really any room for that sort of crap? He's talking about basketball, and you're slamming him. If you don't like what he's saying or how he's saying it, ignore it. If you disagree with what he's saying, argue your point. You are so much more annoying than he is
While the name calling isnt nice, I agree. Some posters (like md_in_training) feel the need to insult a poster for having a certain opinion. The poster didnt attack anyone here but md finds he needs to insult anyone arguing against Yao.
Umm......yea I disagree. Yao has one of the most polished post games in the NBA. range out to the 3 point line and the ability to use BOTH hands equally well around the basket* *Well he didn't before the injury, who knows what he will look like when he returns.
Why do I think he has that kind of range? Well Yao can hit 20 footers with ease.......that set shot is almost automatic. plus his post game is simply superb. He can go either way equally well. Scola, while effective, heavy favors his right hand....thus making him somewhat predictable. But he is very crafty and makes it work.
Just because he can hit a 20-ft shot, doesn't mean he can hit the 3pt shot. Adelman also tried to use Yao at the high post and failed.
Yao had range but he seems to have lost his shot somewhat because he was learning the post game and being used solely for the post game during the van gundy era. also, it doesnt make much sense to bring your 7'6 center out to 3 pt land to take shots. even if he is a 40% 3pt. shooter which is pretty good, he is better utilized down low. anyway, we have both of them (scola and yao) so who cares who is more talented.
I don't have the interview on hand, but I remember hearing last year that Yao frequently shot, and hit, 3 pt shots in practice. With his touch and skill, I believe that 3's are within his range. That being said, given his skill on the block and tremendous height advantage it makes more sense to play him in the paint.
Just because he is capable of doing, does not mean we want him doing it. Its hard to think of a situation where RA calls a timeout to drop up an off ball screen to free up yao beyond the arc.
I think Yaos first shot against Team USA in the Olympics was a 3-pt bomb he nailed. I nearly fell off the couch when I saw that.
Luis has a great sense of humor. Yao might get mad and dump 50 points on him in practice once he gets healthy.
He could! He's rebounding rate is already past that... with more touches and viewing him as one of three equal go-to guys instead of a third option, I think he would score 20.
