The forgotten hero of that play was Martin. He actually tipped the ball away from J.R. Smith on the rebound, then ran down the court and forced Billups to pay attention to him just enough to allow Scola some space to make the play. Scola deserves a lot of credit, but the tip by Martin pretty much made the play. That would have been J.R. Smith's ball without it.
yeah thats what i ws refering to...i wasnt sure if martin got a finger on it, i thought Smith just assumed martin would be called for a foul and didnt try to grab the board Props to Brooks too, he saw they had numbers and saw the play developing and knew to push it once scola got up.
I know he brings it every day but whether or not the guy brings it every day a lot of gm's you would have to think base pay a lot on stats and you have to admit that he has turned it on lately thanks to more minutes and he knows his position on this team more clearly now.
This will mean very little to the people who will never give Scola the credit he deserves, because he's not as athletic or full of "upside" as some others. It won't mean much to those people for whom having "superstars" is more important than actual results in the win column.
That's why Scola is on the top list for the most hard-working player in the NBA aside from Anderson Varejao.
