This torunament as well as the Pre-WC tournament will come as great training to Scola as he will be the only star in the argentinean team, with Prigioni and Delfino unable to participate. In this last game Scola showed he was little raough at the begining, this cause him to have a lot of trouble handling double and triple teams from australia who put one 6-11 and one 6-10 on him for all game long, but after few mistakes he stoped trying to score on every posesion and started distributing the ball quite well, the outcome was Quinteros, Garcia and Vay having a lot of open 3 pointers, Quinteros outshined everyone by shooting 5-6 from 3 land. This was great training and will continue to be as he will have to face many double teams this year with us. If Scola learns how to manage double teams in order to give other teams open shots i think we can have hope he will work well as sole option inside for us.
Great point. Scola is the teams best low post threat and having one is very important to free up the shooters. Having a low post threat also gives the team a higher percentage in scoring. Assuming the team can not play the run and gun due to the good defense of the other team, then the set plays must include passing to the low post and Scola is the best at it. ( as of now )
If Utah indeed has serious interest in Scola I say trade him for thier draft pick they have from New York for next year's draft and speed up the rebuilding process. If Scola was younger I wouldn't trade him, but he's 30, and we won't be contenders for 1 or 2 years anyway. Trade him while his value is at a all time high.
I predict Scola will end up with 20 children, 10 boys and 10 girls. He is a double double waiting to happen.
They probably won't do that. I would hate to see him go,especially to the Jazz. I do agree with your line of thinking,we need the NY pick as well as our own.

I think the international rule said, once you play for a country you need to wait 2 years to be allow to play for another or something like that.
What will happen to the front line of the Rockets? The team needs to get bigger and not give up one of its remaining productive player in the front line.
linky dinky 2009-08-19 I hope that everyone is doing great. Well, everything here is going well. My third son, Matias Scola, was born on the 4th of July. He is very likely the last son (ha, ha).... Fortunately, everything went well. About 1 week after his birth, we all returned home from the hospital and his brothers were very happy to greet him. I'm attaching a couple of photos of the Scola brothers. Luis
