Scola will be on sports radio 610 with Jim Rome between 12pm-1pm today Link: http://www.sportsradio610.com/
that sucks. I wish the Rockets would boycott Rome after the TMAC interview. plus he is such a Laker honk.
Interesting! I can't wait to hear what Rome asks him. I can't stand the guy and his clone crap, but he does do a good interview.
lol, thinly veiled complaint about NBA officiating. He says the international game is more intense, espeically in elimination games, because the officials let you get more physical.
Obligatory praise of the opponent. Their team is loaded, but we think we can compete and have a chance to win this series.
He heard varying accounts of Artests personality (some good, some bad). "I made the decision as soon as I started hearing those stories that I wasn't going to judge him." Obviously, says he's a great teammate now. Rome is impressed that he gave this interview on game-day, and that he learned to speak English by watching Friends.
JR:Winning in international play vs NBA playoffs intensity. LS: Pretty intense. Win or go home. Europe allows more contact than the NBA. Refs there let you get away with more. No more intense than NBA playoffs. JR: Is the NBA what you expected? LS: Yes. It's been my dream forever. More prepared last year vs 4 or 5 years ago. Glad to be part of the best players in the world. JR:What was the off the court adjustment like? LS: More difficult off the court than on. Nothing in particular, but lots of things to deal with such as paperwork, social security, other details. JR: When and how did you learn to speak english? LS: I like the TV show Friends a lot, and other TV shows and movies that were in English that I watched in Argentina. My wife is learning english by watching Lost. JR: You've been "the guy" everywhere, but with the Rockets is not the role you're accustomed to. How was that adjustment? LS: It was an adjustment. You have to make an adjustment going to a new team and a new place to fit in. Have to realize what the team needs and why they put you on the team. Hopefully your role gets bigger every year. It happened going to Argentina the same way. JR: Talk about your matchup with the Lakers bigs... LS: Definitely a challenge. Pau is an all star. They are loaded with Bynum, Ariza, Odom, etc. This is the reason they were the first seed. We believe in ourselves and that we can compete. We have a chance to win if we play the way we have to and if we focus and concentrate. JR: What's Artest been like? LS: Heard all kinds of stories about him coming here. I decided then that I'm not going to judge him. I'm just oging to play and spend the year with him and make my own decision. My perspective is nothing bad at all...he's a great teammate, great competitor, not crazy at all (lol), great teammate. I don't want to judge him on what he did in the past. I just gave myself a chance to know him. JR: You just did as good an interview in your second language as most people in their first language! JR: That guy is smooth. Big props to him for doing it on the day of a game. --- Rack me.
