It's still too early. Scola can be very good but currently still inconsistent.
Yi is good also but his initial performance was inconsistent but now he is
more consistent. We will know more after the All Star break.

Scola is learning the rules quickly and in my opinion Chuck is not much better defensifely.
Scola should be starting now and should be getting a lot more minutes.

Scola is drastically improving. I don't think the rookie wall thing is going to apply to him. He's 26-27 and he plays bball year round. He may go through a shooting slump for a couple games, but that's about it.

The best part is we all know he can score but his defense, to me, is improving at a very rapid rate.

Everybody has to realize, Scola still hasn't been fully UNLEASHED yet. Right now, he's only getting points off of scrappy rebounds and putbacks. The offense NEVER runs through him. In fact, he doesn't even get that many touches. In last night's Nets game, he only played 15 mins.

Once Adelman gives him starter minutes, and he WILL. Scola will be a BEAST!!! Now I'm not saying he'll turn into a Garnett or Duncan, but he's definitely a 15/10 guy in this league.

Scola's first name is Luis. If you feel this way about Rocket players, choose another team. And, yes, I'm a fan of both even though I don't think Hayes should be a starter, but I don't believe in disparaging our players in such a manner.

I´m just trying to figure out why adelman is giving him so little minutes and touches.

It´s like we are loosing a lot of his game with this move.

For precedence purposes I would like to reference Apple v. Oranges 1991. Scola is a good rook on a good team, Yi is a good rook on a bad team. It's the same reason why Amare won ROY and Yao was robbed.

they are both doing better than i thought they would. scola plays old school style - he is a real fighter under the basket - i didnt think he would be playing at the level he is already, but players like him and chuck show how a little hustle can go a long way. once he gets more consistent i think he should be starting. he is still in adjustment period.

as rockets fans im sure we can all take solace in the fact that us having scola is killing spurs fans. i have alot of family in s.a. and they have been watching scola since they drafted him 4 years ago, excitedly waiting for him to come over. and to lose him just b/c ownership was too cheap to pay him is a bitter pill. my uncle was talking him up for years. a frontcourt of him and duncan would have been interesting.

He already hit his wall at the start of the season. He knows how to play the game. He's just going to improve as the season progresses.

    Yi for Scola,
    Would Rockets do the trade?
    Would Bucks do the trade?

Yi has outside shots that Scola doesn't have, but I think Scola has better inside games.

Nice post, jo mama. The only thing I'd disagree on is that I think it's time for Luis to start, even though, like you noted, he's still adjusting to the league. I have a brother-in-law in San Antonio who's a huge Spurs fan (what can you do? he's family! has great season tickets. ;) ), and he can't believe that those years of anticipation ended with the Rockets, of all the teams in the NBA, getting Scola. The only thing worse would have been the Mavs getting him, and he said the Rockets needed Scola more than Dallas.

I hope it works out the way Vernon Maxwell did, the last guy we stole from the Spurs, with a title.

How long is the season in Spain? Between playing in Spain and his duties w/ the Argentinian team it looks like he plays a good amount of ball every year. He may not hit the proverbial wall as hard as rookies normally do.

No way Scola is inconsistent. What is inconsistent is the degree to which his coach and teammates involve him in the game. Whenever he gets the opportunity he takes advantage. I would say he is a great finisher near the basket and definately our best midrange shooter.

    Is this some sick joke?

    Yi would easily replace Hayes

If we had Yi, Scola and no Hayes, Yi would be starting with Scola coming off the bench. Even if end up being like what Spurs does with Gino

I wouldn't assume that at all. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the reverse were true, at least this season, perhaps longer. Having said that, I'd love to have Yi and Scola. They are both going to be excellent players in the league, with Yi bringing something a bit different to the table. The two would compliment each other very well, IMO, especially after Yi, in particular, gets more experience. They both need it, but Scola is pretty far ahead in that department due to his high level of international experience and a much longer career. I can't fail to mention that Hayes' defense keeps getting underrated. The guy can bring it. He's just short on height (ha ha! (sorry!)) and short on a jump shot.

Sadly, the chances of getting Yi are nil.

No, it is not a sick joke. Only if we can read the coach's mind..........
