I think most of you guys are missing the point of this thread. Scola is playing MVP type basketball. I had no idea he had it in him. Sure he could put up these kind of number in the world games, there are a lot more scrubs out there than in the nba. But here's to hoping he keeps it up. Don't forget who he put these numbers against. Lakers have good bigs and so do the nuggets. Not to mention what he did to the warriors who have no good bigs. Arriba Scola.
Yep and about 8 million dollars cheaper too...nice bargin IMHO. Sad thing, if Brand was making even 5 million less, he'd be a good deal but that contract makes him look horrible.
MVP's are MVP's because they lead their team to victory. If it was just based on numbers Monta Ellis should have been in MVP talks the past couple seasons. Plus Scola's defense is boderline terrible even though he has collected a decent amount of rebounds. Watch him tonight, he floats away from his man and is slow to react on his help defense. I love Scola like everyone else here but until he can actually win games for us, he is nowhere near MVP status.
Has no shot. Name recognition bylaws make it clear that you have to be a snubbed MVP twice to be eligible. Most Improved and NBA 2nd team are his best shots.
There's nothing new about this...he's had games like this before. It's only been 3 games, if he keeps it up around 10 games or so, then it's time to get excited.... I think he's just in mid-season form from playign during the summer...too bad we cant say that about everyone else.
He would have been averaging 31 points if he hadn't missed so many easy lay-ups in those three games.
If he keeps this up the rest of the season (which he wont), that would be one giant "F U" towards Bosh and everyone who wanted to bring him here. 13/6/1.
It is VERY doable. WIN what???? Last player to be the regular season MVP and NBA champ was Tim Duncan in 2002-2003. Let's do this again in 2010-2011. "Projected"?!?!? Please show me this. No, we don't.
Hopefully Scola will finally get some recoganition in the national media as the elite PF tha the is. I will not be surprised at all if Scola averages 20/10 this season. We are lucky to have him, especially at what we are paying him.
