So, I have heard nothing but negative things about Scientology. And for the most part, they seem to be justified. But other than the cult aspect of it, do you guys know anything?

The bet story is still in dispute but he said plenty to indicate that he was after money, including famously saying that "The way to make a million dollars is to start a religion." http://www.don-lindsay-archive.org/scientology/start.a.religion.html
The only thing you need to know: If you don't have money, Scientology couldn't care less if you rot in a gutter somewhere.

Man, I'm dumb. Guess it's what I get for not reading the entire thread. That article's been posted on here before though.
all i know about scientology is that beck made the worst record of his career after converting, so boo!!! i remember seeing a little tom cruise blip where someone asked him what he was listening too and he said how great the new beck record was. i remember thinking, well at least he has decent taste in music. than about a week later i heard that beck became a scientologist.
