    Much harder than that.

    We've been doing MRI's and CAT scans and even EEGs for decades, but as far as I know they can't induce simple action potentials reliably without a physical probe, much less recreate complex patterns.

    That "next step" is a giant one relative to the first.

    When I first saw this I was really impressed, but after reading a bit more and watching the vid a few times I realized it is pretty misleading.
