Not nearly as tired as Republicans acting like they’re racist.

Seems like the word “racist” is being thrown around rather loosely here the last couple of days. This Tomstro fellow has been doing a “good” job of trying to drag everyone down into a dark place of his own invention, in my opinion. He thinks that the race that’s been on top of things in this country for more than a couple of hundred years is somehow being discriminated against.

What I’ve seen during my life is a lot of White racism being fought by a whole lot of people for many decades now, fought by people of all races in this country, and a heck of a lot of progress has been made. It appears to me that by making this accusation of White “racism” by others of the White “race,” what we are seeing is yet another attempt at dividing our country against ourselves, when we should be working to bring ourselves together as a nation.

I think it belittles those who have risked their lives to fight real racism, the racism I saw growing up. Racism right out in the open, sitting in the front of a bus riding from my neighborhood in Southeast Houston to Foley’s downtown with my grandmother, who never had a driver’s license. The two of us in the front by the driver with a few others, the back of the bus crammed with Black Houstonians. Swimming pools in public parks with “Whites Only” signs at the entrance and on the doors of the restrooms. I never understood it, being lucky having parents who thought it was an injustice. I understood later how rare that was in my neighborhood, and not just there.

You push back against racism, make progress, and it pops up somewhere else. Often hidden, ready to show its face when given a chance. It’s tempting to say that we’re seeing some of that here, in my opinion.

I laughed. Some of my bestest friends are the blacks and the whites. I couldn't possibly be racist by your racial code of conduct.

Let's review. You said the following.

Then I asked you to substantiate it.

And now you've moved on to racism against the whites, how some of your best friends are black, and how I seem pretty racist. What? Exactly.

So... me being accurate about the number of children separated demonstrates the point? I believe it demonstrates my point. I'm not sure it demonstrates your point.

I would have accurately said hundreds of thousands if it 500,000.

It could. I think hundreds of thousands is more accurate and is what I would have said. I don't know what twists and turns people will take when trying to infer something.

With that logic, hundreds could imply 500,000.

In the case of cruel and inhumane treatment of people some of whom never even broke a crime and almost none of them having been convicted of a crime it implies a huge and massive senseless tragedy at the hands of the President of the United States. It also implies a huge and sad departure from the United States long-stated position of standing against government inflicted cruelty to actually committing the cruelty ourselves.

The ones seeking asylum certainly did not. Most of the others haven't been tried or had a chance to defend themselves.

We know they aren't citizens. You dont need a trial to be detained for crimes here

They arent being held in concentration camps and it maybe stressful its probably better than the journey they just endured
