Should it be a rookie, or a big name vet like Payton? Make all the excuses you want, but Schwab is a mediocre stat padder at best. He can't make it happen when the heat is on and the games count. Doesn't have the arm, the ability to go outside the box, the swagger or the ability to improvise. Rest of team can be made into winners with experience and some tweaks. QB... cannot.
Honestly gtfo. People who think Schaub isn't clutch are obviously bandwagonners. Back in the day when the Texans had no run game and a mediocre defense, the games were always close. Why? Because Schaub always went all out down the line and put the Texans in position to win the game.
i agree with you, i feel like he will be what keeps this team from succeeding. sure he looks great rolling out on the naked and hitting wide open receivers for TDs.. but there is absolutely no plan b in his game.. he conceded the aj hawk sack. he threw the ball in the ground when the screen didnt work and he was under no pressure on that particular play. he just conceded the possession because plan a malfunctioned.. people actually argue that he is not a system qb.. watching rodgers escape sacks and extend plays just shows you cant count out any team with a great qb.. people want to bring up cushing but green bay was missing jennings, raji, finley..
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/9ghV1HmRVfw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> There are literally countless games like this, where Schaub's x factor kicked in and he led comebacks, extended games, all thanks to him and his receivers. You can't tell me he doesn't have what it takes down the stretch.
THe people who b**** about Schaub don't understand the qualities that make him great. He is the best QB in the league at protecting a lead thus making him the anti-Romo. Fans will always complain when he throws the ball away instead of trying to chuck it into double coverage because the fans don't understand the value of throwing away the ball. He's incredibly accurate as well.
Aren't the Broncos 2-3 with a big-name QB like Peyton? Schaub isn't one of the elite guys (Lord, that word is getting overworked), but just how often do those guys enter the league and/or change teams in their prime? It's pretty darn rare. If you're the Texans, your options are to stick with Schaub or mortgage a draft (or possibly two) to move up high enough to get a kid from college that you hope pans out ... most don't. Say what you want about Schaub, but the options are fairly limited and, frankly, they're pretty lucky to have him. I think the Texans made the right choice to extend him.
C'mon man. Matt Shaub is a very good quarterback. He's not Aaron Rodgers, but he's good. He had a bad game. We couldn't establish the run like we're used to, so everyone on offense suffered.
you prefer romo who prefers throwing a a ball in triple coverage getting a sack or a incomplete pass? or throwing a screen pass that gets intercepted and returned for a TD? or do you prefer vick that his plan B if he doesnt get any WR open is to run with the ball, but he doesnt protect the ball and getting fumbles? peyton manning gets frustated too, when the play doesnt works, and scream at his WRs, and RBs, for not blocking well, and sometimes you can see manning going to ground conceeding the sack, because he doesnt want to get hit.
I have no idea if it's even possible, but it would be awesome if you could filter out any threads started by people on your ignore list, to not even see them.
swagger actually has a legitimate definition, its not about your new shoes and snap backs you know.. its about an attitude, a confidence that guy walks around with. i would love for my qb to have a swagger about him, why wouldnt you..
Schaub was not among our bigger problems tonight, but its only one game. We're 5-1. Even if we head into the BYE week 5-2, we're still in a good position for the playoffs.
