Nobody says Deshaun has to play for the Texans. He can absolutely choose to not play. Never argued otherwise. The Texans can, in turn, choose to fine him. That's part of the contract he signed. Once again...he did not have to sign the contract. But yes...you can compare Deshaun Watson being QB of the Texans to a normal at-will accounting job. That's certainly an interesting way to look at it. And no...I'm not supporting Cal/Easterby. I actually fully don't support them. They are horrible and don't deserve the position their in. But I can both not support them while also acknowledging that they aren't obligated to trade their best player just because he wants them to. It's not a complicated situation.
Most likely not. He was the focal point of the offense the whole time he was here. If he was on better teams, he'd have ended up with fewer catches, fewer yards, and possibly still never won anything. He'd potentially have just diminished his own star.
I keep on hearing people say "I can't believe people are defending management here". I've not seen a single poster defend Cal and Jack. Merely placing some blame on Watson also means we are defending the management?
Texans really need to get a hold of their PR because **** this ****, the Texans are NOT the worst run franchsie in the NFL with how people talk about them. We were smacking around KC JUST LAST YEAR...and have consistently been in the playoffs despite how mediocre Buttchin has been yet, people act like we're the Jets or Lions. The Texans have ONE bad year and all of a sudden this is a garbage franchise that can't do nothing right? This is not to say we are the Steelers or Patriots but damn, people really ran with the idea that the Texans are the worst run franchise in the NFL and of course since the fans talk about it as such and the media talks about it as such then we can't be surprised when Watson starts to think it. I do blame Cal for this since in the end trading Hopkins for a bag of chips happens because of the people he trusted and put in power...but they fired that guy...the same guy Watson happily accepted as his coach and defended whenever he could. Texans have a tough decision to make. If the Jets or Miami had the #1 pick I'd say F it. Draft Lawerence and move on. Since they don't though I think I'm more on the side of going into the season and see if he sits out games.
His issue with the Texans isn’t because the team went 4-12 last season. These issues became public because Cal McNair showed Watson exactly where he fit on the organizational chart during the head coach and GM search, and it was far lower than Watson was initially told. This is a trust issue, not a winning issue.
In the eyes of people who hate the franchise and simp for Watson, not simping for Watson is "defending the management"
Did you lose sight of what the front office owe to the City of Houston who cherish and support this team? They have failed this city numerous times over the past 3 years.
Sorry I don't want to support a player who just signed a massive commitment to the fans of Houston to leave just because a bigger market wanted him. What precedent does that set?
Watson talks about wanting culture change and wants this and that. Well sit down and talk then...express your self privately with Caserio Easterby Cal and Culley. Bring some of the team captains with you like JJ. You can’t just talk about culture change and fundamental changes at the top then want out. If he truly wanted change and everything that’s been reported about what he would like then be apart of it then. Be the reason this teams fundamentals change Be the reason for the culture change set the precedent Be the change...Watson Trust me you will be more legendary then bailing out after only 4 years here...and Caserio just got here
Yep. They would have to give up #2, Seattle’s first-round pick from the Jamal Adams trade, their first-rounder next year, and Sam Darnold to even start approaching Watson’s value.
Do you believe a captain should go down with the ship? Seems like people value loyalty after your boss constantly disappoints you.
Maybe. But either way, the whole "y u want 2 play there?" stuff is dumb. If I hated my boss I'd want out too. Doesn't matter if I'm going from Mcdonalds to Burger King.
Yup but you posted early you want him to stay but now not support him. do you support how the front office has handled every move the last few years?
