Exactly, mediocre. If Deshaun agrees to a team like the Jets, we know winning wasn't his main priority in wanting out.
I don't like athletes forcing and demanding trades all the time either - but it is the reality. It is why I told you, teams know they are giving out long term financial security to elite players knowing that in exchange they get the assets back from a trade rather than losing the player in free agency. What the agent has done for Watson is get him away from the franchise tag and also got Watson a no trade clause to prevent him from winding up on a terrible team. Watson is a lot of ways is in the drivers seat now.
Where do you think would be most appropriate for him to go? These value judgments about his preferred destinations are kinda dumb IMO.
May be dumb, but that’s the reported destinations. San Fran would be the place I would choose if he wanted to win.
The Jets are on his list because they hired Robert Saleh as their head coach (one of his preferred candidates) and, obviously, the New York media market is attractive for players.
The Jets just hired a great DC, sit in the biggest market, and haven't completely **** away all their draft picks for the foreseeable future. Seems like a good place for a young QB to start over.
So ya, winning isn't his top priority. When he signed one of the biggest extensions in NFL history he already knew what the Houston market was. He already knew the "culture".
Well, he was in that position once, and he did stand his ground.....and as a result he ended up wasting the rest of his career on the Colts and Titans while the Texans won the division year after year.
I agree, but, at least, the NFL has stiff penalties in place for players that choose to sit out games if they aren’t traded or receive a contract extension to their liking. The NBA doesn’t dock a player his game check for every regular-season game he sits out. The NFL does.
Says you. Removing QBs from the situation I'd wager the Jets to be a better team over the next 5 years.
True, but he'd be on the cover of every magazine and constantly in the spotlight if he was in NY, even if the teams he was on were trash. I'm thinking that's what he wants more so than anything.
I can't believe people are defending the Texans. Time and time again, the team management has shown its incompetence and failures. It's no wonder players want to jump ship and the fans don't blame them. What has the team done to earn our faith? I guarantee none of you would want to work for an incompetent company if you had equal offers at better employers.
