That's what people are forgetting. The guy doesn't want to be here, so his legal stuff doesn't matter (in my view). Next time, Mr. WD-40 (Deshaun) should go to a real w**** if he likes butt stuff.
Texans were/are going to bad regardless of if he stays or goes. His contract hit isn’t that bad this year, so **** it, hang on to him until you get an offer you can live with. He’s pretty much done all the damage he can do to the team already, so how much worse can it really get? Let it blow over and deal from a position of strength.
That's BS and even he knows it. NFL teams are like vultures with no morals. Kareem Hunt was signed, Tyreek Hill, etc. As long as the player does not get in trouble with their team they are completely fine with past trouble.
#BDN is in the driver seat here and he knows it…Miami can say all the political correct things all they want but they will get bounced first round with Tua.. Miami will cave.
What people seem to be forgetting is it can become worse. What if Watson gets indicted? What is his trade value then? I don't think Watson's trade value is anywhere near what it was in February. If I am Caserio then I fight for the deal I would have gotten in February. For example 3 firsts and 2 seconds or a combination of picks and players. Then negotiate contengencies such as if Watson is indicted the the other team gets on of their firsts back. It is a gamble. However, I don't see Watson's value ever being what it once was. If nothing changes with the legal cases I don't see Watson being put on the CEL this year either.
Short of something completely out of left field, the testimony against Watson, while damning if 100% true, is not enough to end his career. This has been going on for how many months now and they are still not sure if criminal charges are warranted. Some teams have had discussions now regardless of this impending/unresolved situation. There would conceivably be a lot more interest, with the ability to create an actual bidding war, once the case is settled or done with. The Texans are bad enough this year that him being a potential distraction or his salary preventing them from improving elsewhere are not going to be issues. They have to get as much value for him as possible.
I really doubt that. Still hear people calling into 610 pleading with Texans to play him. Any true Texan fan would want him to play because it took us 15 years to get a good QB. Do we really want to go back to Osweiler, Hoyer, Rosencopter years?? Like if he ends up getting convicted different story but I have a feeling he will beat all the charges.
Does it matter if he's under contract? Aaron Rodgers said he wanted out too and they patched things up pretty quickly.
Thanks, Goodell... Cal/Jack should be on the phone daily with New York trying to get this resolved via the exempt list. Definitely taking one for the shield.
Translation: The Texans aren't getting the picks offered that they want from Watson's preferred destination(s) and/or they're communicating to Watson that if he wants to play this season, he needs to loosen his grip on that "No-Trade" clause.
