What a ****ing piece of ****. There's got to be some legal mumbo jumbo to his contract that says we can retract or void from paying him the crazy amount of $ we owe him over the next few years. I'm pretty sure the Texans didn't do that and as usual, the city of Houston is ****ed.
The Rockets traded Harden for nothing, the Texans will likely end up doing the same with Watson. Houston sports, ladies and gentleman.
They'll fine him the going rate for skipping out on activities. If he decides to join the team at some point, he will finally have to talk with the media himself. Or the Texans could seek to void the deal. Or he's placed on the exempt list and nothing happens.
Right? What does the rest of the league know about DW: 1. He's a pretty good football player, assuming he's allowed to play this year. 2. He's at minimum kind of creepy with women. Maybe worse. 3. He's not honoring his current contract and skipping out on his teammates. 4. If you trade for him, you better get ready for a heap of distractions and angry fan/media tirades against your decision. * insert can't wait gif *
1. I have no idea what the Rockets traded Harden for. I won't know till we use those draft picks. 2. With regard to Watson..I mean, I guess. No one here thought they should be trading Watson when he first asked out. This situation is such a mess.
It sucks to be a Houston sports fan. Astros were great but ruined it all with the black cloud of the cheating scandal, Rockets never broke through with Harden and are at the very start of a complete rebuild, the Texans finally got their QB but they are the most incompetently run franchise in the NFL and squandered that and the Dynamo have slumlord owners who are the cheapest in the league and have sucked for 8 years. So, the best thing we got going for us is the Rockets tanking for #1 picks. Awesome.
I hear ya on the Stros, but that was a lifetime ago. Think of all that's happened since 2017. The "cloud" that hovers only exists because fans in other cities with crappy baseball teams won't let it go. Half our team has flipped since then. We're a few bullpen pieces away from being really freaking good again this year. All is not lost! Lol
Astros got within one game of the WS last year and should still be on track to make the playoffs again this year... which can never be taken for granted in MLB. Yes, they're not beloved nationally... who cares. If anything, they're in the limelight more now because of what they went through. And based on how the media has ignored other teams' violations, the Astros get more flack in part because of how good they were and still are. If they were just another team, the story would have died off by now. Meanwhile Knicks fans were chanting "**** Altuve" at MSG yesterday...
I don't trade Watson until after the season. You trade him now and he only gets a 2 game suspension he will run off 11 wins for his new team and the draft picks will suck. Wait to see who is desperate for a QB and has the high picks.
Perhaps. And at this point, its simply getting accurate information out there so no side gets to hide. Team Watson cannot hide behind the lawsuits or state that "The Texans didn't want me there". The Texans also cannot hide behind "till the legal process works itself out, our hands are tied..." Still waiting for Watson to make that first public appearance in front of the media. Remarkable that he's been able to stay silent throughout this whole process. Sorta makes the sketchy UTR behavior even more believable. He's got issues.
Team Watson also has to figure out how is he going to have a chance to recoup some endorsement deals and possibly retain either the current contract or rework towards a new one if the current one eventually gets voided. In the history of sports, the only way either of those things happen is if they come back and play... and play well. Michael Vick, Tiger Woods, Etc. all proved that this country will always give 2nd chances to famous elite athletes. Hell, even OJ has a secret following of fans... despite the majority of the public readily acknowledging he killed 2 people.
https://deadspin.com/deshaun-watson...ting&utm_campaign=dlvrit&utm_content=deadspin DeShaun Watson skipping OTAs is good news for Houston For the first time this offseason, Deshaun Watson is doing the Houston Texans a favor, even if he doesn’t mean to. His motives on this, I’m sure, have nothing to do with what’s in the best interest of the team and are purely selfish, but still — in demanding a trade, Watson reportedly won’t show up to OTAs, which oddly works in the Texans’ favor. Watson wanting to be traded from the Texans feels like an eternity ago, given everything that has happened surrounding him this offseason. It came out last week that the plaintiffs in the lawsuits facing Watson will be providing their depositions in September, and that Watson will be doing so next February. Civil lawsuits settle more often than not, but if this doesn’t end in a settlement we may not have any resolution to these legal issues until, at least, after this coming football season. So, then, what happens while we wait? For Watson, the NFL can (and absolutely should) place him on the Commissioner’s Exempt List. Considering there are currently 22 accusations against him, some of which were from out of state, raises the profile of the allegations to a point where the league cannot idly stand by. Watson could potentially be facing trafficking charges on top of everything else. According to CBS Sports legal correspondent Amy Dash: “In this context where you have a domestic situation where there is a worker who is being paid for something, and they believe that they’re going to go into the situation to be paid for the professional act that they want to conduct, and instead they are allegedly forced or coerced into performing a sexual act, and then being paid for that act instead of the act that they thought they were going to perform — well, that’s basically forced prostitution and that would fall under the category of ‘human trafficking.’”
STINKY STINKY FINGER MAN "I need you to massage the fluid out of my prostate, dear. It helps me be more elusive."
Umm, this is awesome. Jose livin' in the collective heads of the entire Big Apple. Awesome! Screw the Yankees and their garbage (pun intended) fanbase. Do the Astros beat garbage? 2015, 2017, 2019... yep. Yes, they do.
Watson is a piece of ****, let him just sit. At this point I don't really care what this franchise gets back, it is a longgggggggg way away from ever doing anything.
Most of the terms of each contract are collectively bargained between the players union and the league. These sorts of terms are the same in every contract in the NFL, so it won't be left up to each team to negotiate them in.
