BINGO. Easterby is waaaaay out of his lane trying to call the shots on personnel or front office moves. Great character coach, but unqualified in every way to make decisions elsewhere in the organization.
I bet they shift their narrative from “Watson must be traded here/there/anywhere!” Once they finally accept how truly expensive a franchise QB in his prime, who is 25, and already signed to a deal that isn’t that cap friendly. I know several Jets fans who don’t necessarily want to become this year’s version of the Texans (with future unknown), even though they all recognize the extreme value of a proven franchise QB. There’s also the extreme value “if” you happen to find a top notch rookie QB, on a rookie contract, and you still have all your picks to build around him. Then again, you could end up with a QB like Tua who the Dolphins are apparently ready to move on from after just one off-season... and he’s gone from extreme value to nobody will give up anything of note in a trade.
The moves the Texans are making on offense is not about bring in a Rookie QB. It is about protecting Watson. You Also don't sign Ingram, re-sign Brandon Cooks, re-structure David Johnson to rebuild with someone other than Watson.
Then it’s delusional thinking...they’re one year deals so I think they see the writing on the wall, but they’re planning on bringing in a stop gap (or tua)...but I could be lying to myself Deshaun is gone, at this point if he switches course it will be weird I’ll eat crow if I’m wrong, but I don’t see any way he’s coming back...it’s he sits out or we trade him
He doesn't have a problem with anyone, it's just that he has no loyalty to anyone or anything either.....and that's the problem.
None of these deals indicate one thing or another IMO. Caserio is cutting a lot of fat which was needed regardless of who lines up under center next season. Long term deals don’t make a lot of sense either given the overall team makeup. Also Cooks deal was restructured, not re-signed.
Well certainly not to a bunch of good ole boys who care more about "playing the right way" than winning. Handing that much power to BOB was a disastrously incompetent decision that set back the franchise years. That destroyed a lot of good faith.
Yeah, it was a terrible idea.... that Watson was fine with, he couldn't stop singing BOB's praises. He only got upset once BOB was fired.
