were only one game back of the 4th seed. if were giving up our 1st round pick to nj, minus well get the highest seed possible.
i was just predicting the games and records out of boredom. i really just posted the schedules for people to have a look. it's crazy how close 6 teams are, and the suns aren't that far behind either.
If the Rockets beat Dallas tomorrow they will move from 8th to FIFTH! Crazy. They will pass Utah, who is idle, as well as Dallas. They would also move past the loser of the Memphis/LA Clippers game. ONE win moves you from the 8th seed to the 5th seed? Long way to go, but still a BIG game tomorrow.
Very true! lol... even more craziness. At least until Sunday, when Utah visits Atlanta and Denver plays in Minnesota.
Wow, think about that, Carl.... Win, you move to 5th. Lose you are in 9th???? Even though it's way too early for a must win game, I might have a heart attack tomorrow night...
Well, this would be really "do or die" if the playoffs were to start after tomorrow. Thankfully, playoffs don't start for another month and whether the Rockets finish tomorrow at 5th or 9th, there is plenty of time to make up for loss ground or to screw up a good thing. But those h2h games against teams with similar records in the West are important. In any case, as I said before, I am kind of enjoying (1) the insanely high number of Western teams with similar records to the Rockets, and (2) the fact that the Rockets are owed protected 1st rounder from 2 other teams. These facts give me a rooting interest in a good # of games played every night even if the don't involve the Rockets.
Yep, I always find myself pulling for teams "around" us this time of year to lose. But as of right now, it's tighter than I can ever remember. As you said, way to early to consider anything a "must win" game (although I want that April 11th game against Utah BAD). Wish we'd get some kind of update with a little more info on Kyle's return.
Seeing how tight it is, it's no wonder ESPN put that Suns Rockets game national. It should have playoff implications.
Just watched the incredible four OT game between Atlanta and Utah. Felt almost as stressful as watching Rockets actually play (pulling for Atlanta...lol).
HUGE win tonight and also will stay in 7th for now thanks to Sac winning in Utah! Excellent night!!!!
lol... I was thinking the same thing. He missed a couple of big ones against us, but came up with a couple of key plays down the stretch tonight in Utah.
Looks like it's going to come down to us vs. the Jazz. Rockets have a 1 game advantage right now. Wed 04 vs Phoenix W Fri 06 vs Golden State W Sun 08 @ San Antonio L Mon 09 vs San Antonio L Wed 11 @ Houston L (or else ) Fri 13 @ New Orleans W Sat 14 @ Memphis L Mon 16 vs Dallas W Wed 18 @ Portland L Sat 21 vs Orlando W Tue 24 vs Phoenix W Thu 26 vs Portland W Based on those predictions, they will finish with a 35-31 record Rockets can't drop any easy games or games they should win, our remaining schedule, I see 6 "easy" games, 2 against New Orleans, 1 against Phoenix, 1 against Golden State, and 1 against Sacramento. Those 6 games alone would put us at 35 wins, BUT if we lose against Utah in Houston, Jazz would then finish with 36 wins, while we have 35, AND they get the tiebreaker. Basically, unless Jazz go on a run (which is possible) and starts beating teams they are underdogs against, Rockets SHOULD be okay IF they take care of business. If we win 1 or 2 games we weren't supposed to win, we would be in great shape.
