Not to add to the pain, but listening to the radio, apparently this paricular type of break (Lisfranc fracture) has ruined a whole lot of NFL careers where guys were never able to come back at anything like 100%, and there is a pretty good chance he will be in constant pain going forward.

Well if that's the case fine. No biggie. We'll draft Case Keenum and we'll be back at the top.

The only cases I'm aware of in which a Lisfranc has significantly hampered careers has been with running backs (Duce Staley), in which the difference in success and failure can come down to a tenth of a second. It shouldn't be a big deal for a QB that doesn't rely much on mobility. Moreover, while there's occasional pain/stiffness, it doesn't mean an increased risk of a future fracture (that I know of).

The most famous recent Lisfranc case I remember was Dwight Freeney in 2007... and he came back very strong, with 10 or more sacks in each of the next 3 years. And that's playing a position that requires a lot more burst than QB. It sucks for this season, but going forward Schaub should be OK.

Listening to 610, Schaub said it was Fat Albert who landed on him and caused his foot to break on that QB sneak. This is the 2nd time Fat Albert has taken Schaub out, the other time was a couple years ago when he was with the Titans.

Fat Al strikes again! Sure does love playing against those Texans.

Right idea but the wrong player in Texas.

RG III is the truth. He would be deadly in our system

Can we please take "Schaub out for the season" out of the OP. It's not applicable until confirmed by the front office, which they explicitly said they are NOT willing to state yet.

I think most would agree that Griffin is easily the better prospect. He has all the physical tools (size, super fast, cannon for an arm with the precision to match). But more importantly, he has the work ethic to become great.

I think RG III has propelled himself as the second best pro-prospect after Luck. I don't think he'll declare for the draft though. And you got me. I do wanna see a Baylor player on the Texans. Kendall Wright anyone?

I heard somewhere that Schaub said he thinks he will return this season and made a joke about how he doesn't rely on quickness anyway. Does anyone have a link or something on this?

I love schaub's attitude towards the whole situation. he ven said that he believes the other kid, matty, can take us to to the afc championship if needed. They all believe in each other. And what was Leinart's quote? something like he is going make schaub proud. =)

Great attitude about the whole situation and I do believe he can come back "Next year" and pick up where he left off...

I'm officially on board all the way. I think Leinart will take us deep into the playoffs. I BELIEVE!

Anyone else thinking that Schaub going out, and Leinart coming in, with all sorts of doubters, may be just the type of fuel the Texans need to keep the momentum going through the bye?

I think the Texans already have a bunch of fuel and self-motivation built into their overal makeup, regardless of this change.

I think this fuels the fans more than anything else... and actually provides a common ground for all the Schaub "haters" as well as the eternal optimists to unite behind a team that has faced all sorts of adversity this season, and met each one so far with a vengence.

No I do not believe the Texans losing their starting QB was just what they needed to keep "momentum" going.
