To be fair, Wilson and Cousins could have been had easily.

There has to be another guy out there that will pan out. It's Smith's job to recognize who this player is and nab him. Not ours.

Time for the incessant complainers to nut up and start offering alternatives and solutions.

You've b****ed for years now, sack up and start actually putting some thought into this.

DonnyMost can not comprehend such a thing. He wanted a normal, robotic, and efficient QB to take us the Super Bowl. Delusional.

So much misguided hatred in this thread. I'm tired of hearing every person in this city say, "WE NEED A NEW QB!!!" Well, who the **** do you want?? I can tell you right now....there isn't ANYBODY on this roster better than Schaub. And, the fact of the matter is, there isn't a game-changing QB coming out of this year's draft either. Like I said in another thread.....I give Schaub one off-season to work on the things that he's deficient in. Pocket presence, keeping his eyes downfield while maintaining said pocket presence, getting better at this reads and progressions, etc. Then, I build myself a defense that could potentially hold anyone under 25 points. We have a lot of the core pieces there already.....a few well- selected draft picks peppered in with some savvy FA acquisitions, and we're there man. Finally, I'm looking at Johnny Manziel, Braxton Miller, and Marcus Mariota HARD while they're still in college. I'm sending scouts to College Station, Columbus, and Eugene every week. That's how this team is going to bust through this **** and shock the world.

Still waiting for you to answer the question.

Sounds like you've resigned yourself to abject failure.

I guess this means you won't need to follow the team or post here until 2015 or so. Awesome! :)

To be fair...? Who said they wanted to draft those guys? Did I miss that post somewhere?

And for that matter, have we invented a time machine to go back and draft these guys?

Still waiting on a forward thinking person to offer some kind of idea instead of just mindless hollow b****ing.

and yet, once again, there is no single move that could push this team to the next level more than upgrading the qb position. not one. and granted that one move is likely the single most difficult move to make, but you put any of the top 10-12 qbs in the league under center (including wilson, kaepernick, luck and rgIII) and this team is in the afc title game this weekend. absolutely no doubt in my mind.

there is no amount of weapons you can add to this team that will make schaub not buckle under pressure, that will somehow instill a better pocket presence or greater sense of urgency.

sure there are other aspects of this team that didn't step up but none of them are as important as the qb. you add another play making wr and ILB and even RT and i still won't have any faith that schaub can lead this team to the promised land bc time and time again when the lights were brightest he flat out crumbled.... nothing is going to change that.

I think we should take a hard look at Geno Smith.

Robotic and normal will not get it done. Dynamic (be it legs or arms) has to be an attribute.

I would agree that he's not the type that you want to routinely rely on to overcome significant holes. If the texans ask him to do that on a regular basis then they are in trouble. With that being said, it's not how this team was built.

I think this team, provided Schaub does not regress any further, can reach the next level if it signed a beastly RT. Schaub goes as his running game goes. We all know that. The defense can put up some stinkers, but more often than not they will play well enough to win. A QB change could have a greater impact, but upgrading the right side of the OL could have a very solid impact and is also a very realistic move we could make.

Are you talking about Mark Sanchez?

You're asking a 32 yr old statue to reinvent himself while having Super Bowl aspirations?

I like Teddy Bridgewater over him.

Teams will continue to stack the box and force Matt Schaub to beat them. Which subsequently, puts the ball in Matt Schaub's hands to be a playmaker. Clearly, he is not.

Foster and AJ played every game. Can you count on that next season?

Will Matt Schaub make up for it? You know the answer to that.

Geno Smith is not the answer. Bridgewater can't be had unless some major injuries cause us to lose 14 games. This Nassib fella is getting some run lately.

It's not our job to find a good QB (mobile, good arm strength) that would fit in what is conceived to be a good to great offensive system.

When the running game is humming and teams are stacking the box, he can beat nearly anybody. That's not high praise, though. It's just what a good QB should do with tools at his disposal. But you're right, things aren't always going to be ideal, so we have to make a change if the opportunity presents itself.

i wont disagree that addressing the line could help but i honestly think you have some talent on the right side it's just many of our key players there are very young... i think we should absolutely expect them to be better next year.

one thing i don't expect is for our soon-to-be 32 year old 9 year vet qb to be drastically improving his game... that's absolutely unrealistic. schaub isn't going to all of a sudden get stronger or faster or quicker or become a vastly improved decision-maker or grow a huge pair of balls. no chance. superbowl winners are littered w qb's who were play makers, leaders, risk takers... schaub will NEVER be that guy. if qb's like schaub could win titles on a routine basis you would see plenty of schaubs with rings on their fingers but you don't... and you know why? bc guys like schaub rarely win titles.

i ranted in another thread that this entire franchise lacks a sense of urgency which easily morphs into absolute complacency... and that is not different for schaub. he's just good enough. unfortunately "just good enough" will win you zero lombardi trophies.

So... it's our job to sit here and b**** with no real purpose? (lol, internet) We have no idea where these guys are going to end up going in the draft. Top picks in January sometimes fall out of the 1st round entirely by the time the Spring rolls around. Life is funny like that. In this draft especially there appears to be no concensus top 5.
