Not just about Matt. Combination of things. The interceptions were bad, and maybe he can fix those mistakes. But even if he does, there are just too many things systematically wrong with this organization. No accountability for Marciano, and look what happened today. No accountability for Demps, and he's out there on 3rd and 23 and lets Hilton behind him again. No accountability for Graham, and he misses another 50+yard kick and again struggles to send kickoffs into the end zone. Two timeouts wasted on an incomprehensible challenge and indecision on fourth down. The Texans need a transcendent quarterback to overcome their inherent limitations with Gary. I think Matt is a pretty good one and better than he looked today. But it's clear he's not going to take these Texans to a Super Bowl without significant changes to organizational structure and philosophy, and I don't see anything in Gary's history that indicates he's willing to do that.
b/c we already know that our ST and secondary is garbage, but didnt expect our Offense to be playing like total garbage...
Everyone is down. But when we beat up on the Bengals next week everyone will be back on the bandwagon. We made our road to the superbowl difficult but I still believe, I've seen what this team is capable of.
Everything you just said tells me that the problem is less with Matt and more with the FO. If we need a Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, or Peyton Manning caliber QB to win a Superbowl, then we might as well fold up shop and come back in 3-4 years once Matt is gone and we've had a chance to draft a few rookies.
They also beat two pretty good teams too, including one that blew out Houston and really exposed Schaub. Harbaugh saw that Smith had reached his ceiling and his ceiling just was not enough, so he made a change. It remains to be seen how the move works out, but let's not pretend that Justin Smith was completely healthy, or that VD was completely healthy. There were other factors contributing to those losses, but even the 49er players, with respect to Smith, were happy with Kaepernick starting over him (stronger arm, more dynamic a player). And anyone who is happy that this team is 12-4 after an 11-1 start is just completely delusional. The difference between this team and Atlanta is that Atlanta, when they got Mike Smith, made the playoffs the first year with a ROOKIE QB. So what, they haven't won a game there yet, they are still way ahead of where the Texans were. It took six years to rebuild from a 2-14 season, while we look at the Colts taking only one year to do the same. It's quite pathetic.

Somehow I get the feeling if Schaub performs well in the playoffs, you will be awfully silent. I can criticize guys when they do poorly, you, on the otherhand, seem incapable of praising them when they do well. Kind of sad, really.
Absolutely. The problem is more organizational than with Matt and a true rebuild is needed. But that doesn't mean you can't look around in the meantime and see if you find lightning in a bottle somewhere. Still an awful lot of talent at various spots on this roster.
Not saying we should fold up shop, but no one has won a Super Bowl except them. Big Ben and Eli are both miles ahead of Schaub.
What makes you think that Matt this year can do that??? And dont tell me the Thanksgiving day game, bc that game was a gift(a free TD)...people easily forgot that Matt threw a pick that game in the OT...good teams make you pay for that...The Colts did that today.
This tells me you believe we need a top 5 QB to win a Superbowl. If you are resigned to this idea, then there is nothing for us to talk about anymore. It also means there's probably zero reason for you to continue to watch the Texans, as we do not have a top 5 QB, so there is no possible way for us to win anything of consequence.
Oh definitely, I'll be heartbroken if the Texans win the playoff game. You can criticize Schaub when he does poorly, as evidenced by this thread. Talk about sad, only on your planet is it a good thing that your starting QB, 9 year veteran has never thrown a pass in the playoffs. Of course he could have throw some playoff passes last year but he became the first quarterback in the history of the universe to have a season ending injury on a quarterback sneak.
you will not win a super bowl without either an ELITE qb or elite defense/special teams. the texans don't have neither. the sooner you realize that the sooner you can learn to not invest too much emotion in the games.
