The argument is not about Schaub being "elite" (however you want to define it), the question is can the Texans go to the superbowl with Schaub as their quaterback? Is he good enough? If he is, and he proves he is then we can discuss whether he's elite or not.
Top Quarterbacks in the NFL right now 1. Brady 2 Manning 3. Rogers 4. Brees. Tier 2 5 Eli/Rapelistburger Tier 3 6. Matt Schaub/Tony Romo/Matt Ryan. So at worst he's top 10. Can he be considered Elite? (Tier 1 as one of the GOAT) No. But can he become Teir 2 (lead a team to multiple superbowls?) Sure.
I don't get why people say Matt Schaub isn't elite. He has put up the stats, but people said stats don't mean anything without wins. Well look at his record over his last 18 games or so. Only 2 losses. He has also been EXTREMELY clutch in my opinion, throughout his career. Think back to all the games in 2009 and 2010 that he brought is back in. The list goes on and on. He can be inconsistent, but I think you could make an argument that he is elite.
Yeah, and he always shows up in big games. Like against Chicago, Green Bay, and New England this year.
I do agree it seems he has had stage fright or something this year but he hasn't always been horrible in prime time. Remember that Ravens game a few years ago when he had that miracle comeback, and than in 2009 he played decent against Titans.
Yep that is about right. Schaub's physical limitations are what really holds him back. Plus , he is already 31. He's good , not great.
in 2009 Matt Schaub had the worst running game in the NFL and a mediocre at best defense, and led the team on his back to a 9-7 record. Two years later and he has a good run game/defense and he has won 17 out of his last 19 games or so.
