    THIS.

The team is STACKED but unless Schaub can play at a high level throughout the season and into the playoffs, there probably isn't a realistic chance of winning the SB.

He has ZERO playoff experience. That doesn't sit well with me either. Oh, and when did he stop being made of GLASS?!?

    EXTREMELY RISKY contract IMO.

I'm more worried about Schaub's health but he is a good QB when he is out on the field.

Still, Jamison's extension makes more sense to me because for a undrafted guy he played very good when JJ was out in the preseason and even when just playing his normal duties backing him or Smith up he would be very good and could make plays. It is great to reward guys you know deserve it.

But what's your alternative at QB?

Is there a free agent next season that you'd think can keep us at SB contenders? And when you bring a FA into our system, how long for them to learn it like Schaub has?

Is there a rookie we can draft with the 27th+ pick that can come in and help us win a superbowl within the next few seasons?

Unless there is a solution that is an upgrade from Schaub, then I cant see how we are making the wrong move. What is the alternative to not signing Schaub? In other words, if Schaub isnt the answer, then how exactly to we reach the answer?

^I agree with you rez, Matt is the best option we have to win now and to win within the next 3 years.

I have to spread my rep around before I can give you some again.

They didn't negotiate during their season. First game Sunday. Contract agreed to Saturday.

ANY player can go down at any minute during the season.

schaub doesn't have the ability to extend plays. we have to scheme around that. the way a big ben and others can move around to wait for someone to break loose from coverage is invaluable. it puts tremendous pressure on even the very best defenses. not saying schaub can't win a superbowl, he's damned good, just that he will never be elite due to this limitation.

I thought they would wait until after the season, but they were going to keep him unless he got hurt.

It is going to be tough to keep the team together. My guess is A. Smith, Walter, and Cody are gone next season.

Every QB in the history of the NFL had ZERO playoff experience before they made the playoffs.

You know who else doesn't? Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Matt Ryan

Staying in the pocket and throwing the football might not be such a bad thing after all.

Only five points to keep in mind:

    Schaub knows the system.
    Schaub is good enough.
    Andre isn't getting any younger.
    TJ isn't ready.
    No one better is available.

Big Ben was sacked 5 times last night.

I think I'm one of the few Texan fans who doesn't HATE Peyton, but let's not get carried away about last night. He certainly looked good, all things considered, but if not for that 2-yard pass to Thomas that turned into a 71-yard TD, Peyton would have thrown for less than 200 yards and a TD.

Usually elite QB take their team to the playoffs. Towards the end the colts weren't too good, but they still got to the playoffs.

And if not for that TD and other yards thrown, he would have thrown for 0 yards and 0 TDs!
