I love it. You have no idea, of course. But you're sooooooooooo sure it's not good, you've arrogantly throw it on the table. Well.... discounting games in which he was hurt and was did not lead the team in pass attempts, Schaub is actually 30-29 in his career as a Texan. And that includes 8 losses in which Schaub was on the sidelines when the decisive points were scored, all in the final 5-ish minutes of the 4Q.
Trent Dilfer doesn't let his defense lose to hail maries and other stupid stuff because he's a winner. Whenever you see Kareem Jackson getting beat for yet another TD catch, keep in mind that Schaub's unclutchness and unwinningness allowed that to happen. When Ray Lewis blew up all those plays for the Ravens a decade ago, he was channeling the winningness of Trent Dilfer the winner. Had Lewis played with Schaub all those years, he'd be a forgotten footnote in football history like Jaime Sharper.
Please stop. Immediately. Criticize Schaub up and down; fine. But Trent Dilfer was NOT, by any measure, an average QB. He was significantly below average. You invalidate not just your opinion of Matt Schaub but every other opinion you've ever had about anything else by continuing to label Dilfer as average. (Or is this just DD? He seizes a paticularly moronic point that he knows gets under everyone's skin and so he keeps beating it until there's glue?) I will open this up to all of history - please list the QBs that ELEVATED their otherwise mediocre team to a Super Bowl victory. This should be fascinating....
Why is everyone getting so upset over this topic? Schaub is a good QB. He makes the throws when he needs to and he plays relatively low risk football, meaning that he wont really hurt you with boneheaded plays. Yes, he's had his moments, but he's a conservative QB. Having said that, he doesnt really make any throws that make me say "wow"...most of the time, its the offensive schemes that leave OD wide open, or any other receiver. How many times have we seen Andre not have a guy within 5 yards of him? Those throws, any QB in the NFL can make. Schaub cant throw a deep ball and he doesnt have the arm strength to zip the ball 20 yards. He is what he is...On arm alone, he's a top 20 QB, maybe. However, he plays smart and he fits the role of what the Texans need, so with that in mind, he shoots up the rankings. Having a good arm is part of the equation, but having a brain is the other part. Thats why I rank Schaub ahead of Romo...and thats why Schaub has outplayed Rivers this season. EDIT I also dont understand all the DD hate...I mean, everyone is entitled to their opinions. Just because the majority of you dont agree, doesnt mean there should be such a stink about it. I dont necessarily agree with all he has to say, but its just another perspective to look at...no reason to get riled up over it.
Name me 20 QB's better then Schaub now. I dare you. Here's reality if you wish to see, you can go back to view all his seasons = http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/quarterbackRating Please review his ranking each year before responding. Nah dont look, he sucks am I rite derp derp derp
Uhhhh, I guess you didnt really comprehend my post. I said on arm alone, schaub isnt top 20. I also stated that brain plays a major role, thus the reason that Schaub shoots up in the rankings, and is ahead of players such as Romo and Rivers, despite having a weaker arm. You fail.
Everyone is indeed entitled to their opinion; but when that opinion is stalled on the side of the road because all 4 tires flew off their axis and the driver is claiming the problem isn't with the tires but that his stereo ate his copy of Dokken's seminal "Tooth and Nail" cassette tape - then he should expect to be challenged and, in theory, be big enough to give a little ground and concede points that are being proven irrefutably incorrect. There is plenty to criticize Schaub about; he is far from perfect or even great (IMO). But to compare him to Trent Dilfer... as Gene Siskel once (probably) said, "Everyone is entitled to an opinion, unless that opinion is that Red Sonja is good."
True, that's no problem...but lets say I give an opinion, telling me once that its stupid is fine...but telling me in 5 consecutive posts is more than excessive...and thats exactly whats happening in this thread.
I dont get the big deal of repeatedly posting that you disagree with him. Were talking about a game here...not about anyone's family members or religious/political views. Its just fun discussion about the game of football. All the name calling and excessive posts about how dumb someones opinion is...I dont get that. I know, for sure, that Schaub is a much better QB than Dilfer...if DD doesnt think so, so be it. Post evidence showing Schaub is better and then move on. The dwelling on topics and continued posts to attack a poster's opinion on a certain topic are just unnecessary, imo. Just a matter of perspective.
