Yeah, maybe we can get Colt McCoy, who is going to be the next Drew Brees, of course.

LOL - Which QBs were available when we took Kareem Jackson?

Why even bring Kareem into this discussion? DB was a weak spot at the time and we tried to address it.

Don't go chasing waterfalls. We are fully capable of winning a superbowl with Matt Schaub. We need to get better elsewhere.

I've already laid out the scenario for getting rid of Schaub here, and it's pretty unlikely at this point, so you might as well get used to him.

Barring total catastrophe to end this year, Schaub is getting an extension this offseason (and so will Gary).

I am used to him, I just believe the guy will ultimately do something stupid to cost the team in a crucial situation, either in the playoffs or to get to the playoffs.

He is just not clutch, not a leader, not cerebral, just not good enough, IMO.

I can't explain the Colts; I obviously think Manning is great - but that's a talented roster beyond him and has been for many years: Marshall Faulk, Edgerrin James, Joseph Addai, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark... The defense has had Dwight Freeny, Robert Mathis, Bob Sanders. Plus an elite cast of coaches (previous regime, obviously). I'm still stunned their 0-7.

Brady and probably Brees are the two guys that leap out as being far and away the best players on what looks like otherwise mediocre rosters... but even Brady had Moss and a slew of All-Pro linemen.

It's true. There's no point in bringing up the relevant statstics AGAIN, but when you look at the 4th quarter, or things like "under pressure" Schaub is quite good.

I've been highly impressed with how Schaub has done without Andre too. Just about EVERYONE was predicting doom when we lost Andre, but Schaub just keeps doing what he's always done.

He's really good at spreading the ball around and completing long plays. 3 different receivers caught passes of 25+ yards last game.

Tim Tebow was, he has all the "leader of men" qualities you seem to be looking for.

Is the #3 defense in the league enough?

Manning has made guys like Jacob Tamme, Austin Collie, and Pierre Garcon into head turners. Dude is a king maker. Plain and simple.

Brady turned Moss' career around, Deion Branch and Wes Welker, too. And has made guys like Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez into household names somehow.

Brees is the same way. Putting together a hot rod offense with spare jalopy parts.

This is the crown jewel that DaDelusional wants. Anything short of elite and he isn't happy and wants to trash him. Which is why no one takes him seriously.

Yes, but he sucks at everything else, unless he can throw the ball, he will fail too, I am picky, I want a guy that can do it all.

Provide leadership when needed, change the play at the line of scrimmage when he reads the defense, can elevate a team in times of injury, and will motivate his team to play harder when flat, not to mention stand strong in the pocket and protect the ball.

Matt sometimes looks great (when he has confidence and is not pressured) and other times looks like a coward back there - someone who can't wait to throw the ball to avoid a hit.

Too many back foot throws, too many casual turnovers, too many stupid mistakes......sure he has his moments, but so do all mediocre QBs...

It is not about being satisfied with being mediocre, it is about wanting something better, striving for the ultimate prize, not settling for decent.

If you are happy with Decent....then HONEY....Matt is your guy !

Garcon is on pace for his best season as a pro and it's not going to be close. Tamme played well for Clark last year but was no Clark. Collie is a spare part with or without Manning.

Meanwhile, he's played with... by my count, three sure-fire HoFers (Faulk, Harrison, Saturday + Tony Dungy), two borderline HoFers (Wayne and Clark) and a host of All-Pro-level offensive and defensive players.

Manning is obviously great - but he's not leading the 2008 Detroit Lions to 1,500 straight 12-win seasons, or whatever. He has a great supporting cast.

I agree with this. I can understand not loving Schaub - he can sometimes be frustrating. But the level of ire is odd, to me.

The stats aren't meaningless. They were mostly compiled against bad teams and the evidence against good teams isn't as pretty. You know, the type of teams you have to beat to actually compete for a title. This lil tidbit keeps getting ignored though. ;)
