There are 2 sides of the ball and they're not that good on either, agreeable with your outlook of it not being one guy.

Colts defense allows the 2nd highest QB rating in the league. And allow the highest completion %.
    http://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2011/opp.htm

They're basically allowing the opposing QB to be Peyton Manning on themselves. While their own offense is poor, 3 & Outs plus allowing big passing plays can bury a team.

Are you assuming he would make that tackle at full speed? One small juke and he flies right by.

And yes, I know it is Matt we are talking about..lol.

Then why are you making an argument that has no legs? (no pun intended)

I think he might have been able to make it by running it in, all he had to do was make one small cut and the safety would fly right on by.

Yeah all our flat footed, slow and clumsy quarterback had to do was juke a safety.

He has played football all his life, if he can't make a cut on a guy running full speed, than I want a new QB.....because that is pitiful.

Annex Mexico - that is a great idea, is it yours?

The only cutting that would have been made would be the doctor into Matt's knee to repair his torn ACL if he tried such a move.

I guess we will never know....since he decided to toss up a lame back footed duck....instead.

I mean, Carr was no fleet footed passer himself, but he MIGHT have been able to make a play to get into the end zone. Schaub doesn't have that move in him. While the safety was deep, he had a shot running at about a 45 degree angle from the LOS. Once he left the pocket and the safety came up, that possibility was gone.

If he and Jacoby can both agree to either a post up or a back corner toss, it would all be moot anyways. Inexperience(or lack of trust) with your WR was the culprit on that play. Both being on the same page(Jacoby cutting to the corner and Schaub throwing it there, or Jacoby posting up and Schaub lofting it up) had a monumentally better chance than him trying to run it in.

It was indeed a soft pass. I think it was because he was throwing it to Jacoby, who was running bad routes all day. He decided to loft something up that was easy to catch rather than throw something that Jacoby would miss.

Jacoby was targeted like 11 times that game and made 2 catches.

Are you guys SERIOUSLY still talking about that play TWELVE DAYS LATER.

Damn, I'm glad I wasn't on this board during the Oilers playoff loss years.

So we all agree, that Matt is not elite, and not a clutch QB....and that the Texans should be looking to upgrade there if they can.

LOL, no QB in the league (besides Vick) is going to juke that safety and score.

    Bless your heart, DD.

No one was arguing he was elite in the first place.

The clutch thing is a different discussion.

Nobody was ever arguing he was elite.

As for clutchness, I'd say 70/30 is not quite the consensus you were hoping for.

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=176894

And "looking to upgrade"? Seriously? What free agent or marketed quarterback is out there that can improve this team?

Schaub is here through the 2013 season, and likely beyond that (unless Kubiak gets canned).

The best the "replace him" crowd can hope for is that 1) the Texans totally tank next year 2) Kubiak gets fired and 3) they draft a QB who takes over after 2013.

As I look at it again . . . looks like a fade route was there for Jacoby
but Matt did not pull the trigger
[doesn't look like Jacoby was looking for the ball either
but WRs are suppose to not look until the last second . ..right?]
