according to John Clayton of espn.... yea 6th highest passing yardage in history makes him #14 in the league today??? seriously??? http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/preview10/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=5489176
I think Schaub should be rated higher than that. I said he was not "Clutch" But now....I have to say, I was wrong. He is a pretty danged good QB. DD
Its obvious he is holding "not making the playoffs" against Matt, right or wrong that is a smudge on his resume until he does it but I wouldn't think enough to drop him to 14th??? From the description he laid out, I'd assume if the Texans make the dance this season, Schaub should skyrocket past some/most of those guys.
I realize it's "we're all bored until regular season" mode, but articles like this are crap. Just filler until we actually get there and it doesn't have much merit other than someone that should probably be writing for Entertainment Weekly giving their opinion lol
Some of Schaub's stats are really Kubiak's system credit. Heck, Air Sage Rosenfels put up quality numbers with the Texans. And last year's numbers were so high due to the fact the Texans could not run the ball. Looking at the list, think about the numbers that they could put up in Kubiak's system. I found it hard to name 4 QBs in the top 14 that Schaub is better than, to get him into the top 10.
Sage In 2007 5 starts: 64% compl. 15 tds-12ints. 184 yds/gm. 84.8 rating. 2008 - 5 starts: 66% compl. 6 - 10. 238 yds. 79.5 rating. Schaub 2007 - 11 starts: 66%. 9-9. 203. 87.2 2008 - 11 starts: 66%. 15-10. 276. 92.7 they had about the same # of attempts as well for each season. Sage is a borderline starting QB in the league and he did put up some good games but he also stunk some up and made horrible decisions at times. Schuab, also got better each year. The texans did pass more last year but averaging them out, only about 6 more attempts per game. The system is good, but still, the QB has to pull the trigger and Schaub runs it perfectly.
this excuse is getting older and tired. A player can be better than someone and not go to the playoffs.
Not in this guys rankings. Seems like he just cares about the QB making the playoffs even if all the QB has to do is hand the ball of to his RB and rely on his defense.
And Rothlisberger is on top... because he "has rings"??? WTF? He sucked last year, remember? I just noticed that they are ranking these based solely on low_age+super_bowl rings, nothing more. QUOTABLE material.
Good call. A lot of those QB's were better, but aren't any more (Favre, McNabb, Palmer). Some of them just aren't as good (Romo, Flacco).
