[SCARY shhhh...tuff] Haunted Houses: Please recommend one

I'll begin by saying I've never been to a pay-for haunted house. I've been to a make-believe haunted house, but never one of these haunted houses during the Halloween season. Just asking of you if you've been to several or maybe a couple, to recommend one that will scare the bah-jeezus out of me. I am hoping it's a quality one.

 I don't scare easily, by the way. I am constantly standing behind doors, around rooms, etc., and jumping out to scare my SwoLy family, relatives, etc., but when they do it to me, they don't scare me.

I am not sure why, but I can watch a horror movie and not jump or scream when there's a scary monster popping up on the screen. I just won't jump... I might be just a bit 'rattled' inside... or will have the scary feels, but won't have your usual fetal-position-and-scream reaction, like most people.

What's a good 'scary' Haunted House I can go to?

Assuming you mean in the Houston area...

    - Terror Dome
    - Screamworld
    - Phobia

Having said that...I wouldn't expect to get "scared" at any haunted house unless you scare easily. They're mainly just fun.

I said ^ scared, not infuriated.
Yeppers. Houston. What are the differences between all three? *if they're the same, then I would just go to one. Are you just naming some? ;)

I thought Phobia wasn't that good. I had a good time when I went to Screamworld though.

Eh, no real differences. All just have people who try to jump out and scare you. Only differences I guess are the different kinds of venues that are offered. I've always had the most fun going to Screamworld, if you want a personal recommendation.

I had a friend who used to work at Phobia so she could get us in for free. I must say after that experience I don't see why people pay for these things. It was just a lot of strobe lights in dark rooms with people screaming and banging objects against metal.

    Do ALL have zombies?

I hear some have stairs, second rooms, light shows, goo dropped on you and you come out all wet--wait, no that was last night at the Senate hearing...
    RACIST.

But... those were scary, indeed.

Not my thing anyway, & I know this would be weak in terms of maximum possible scare intensity, but I wish there weren't actors involved. Why do they keep screaming & coming at you after the initial scare? I guess if you're there, it remains scary even after you first jump & scream? This girl, who was playing up her reactions for the show, had to actually tell one "Okay, we got it." Maybe you have to stop & applaud to get them to go back to their station.

I like the dungeon of doom at Kemah boardwalk. Just visited there Sunday and I got scared plenty of times being in the back of my group. You'll even run into a wall or two.

There's on in channelview. Being outside in channelview is already scary enough.

    Thanks, Red and 14.

So it's a HALFWAY HOME instead of a haunted house?

Anyone else want to recommend any? I still haven't gone. I plan to either tonight or tomorrow night. Don't they stay open until the end of November?
