Just saw this movie. Good throwback to scary movies of the 70s, where the scare doesn't come from blood and gore. Wonky premise, but it works. It's gotten great reviews, too, with 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. Would recommend.

Just saw it, and this^. SO much is left unexplained, nothing made sense. Super weak ending.

It's really just another stupid scary movie, no idea why the reviews are so high. That being said, there isn't really one scary movie that I can honestly say is "good", not a fan of the genre at all.

But, I still will be checking over shoulder for the next couple of days.

I will take this into consideration for expectations when I watch it tonight. Might be going with my lady friend! And by lady friend, I mean whoever happens to be the closest female to me in the theatre :)

Different, music makes it feel like an older scary movie, lots to be left wanting to know (and not in a good way imo). Commercials overhyped it tbh.

I have not seen it yet but
sounds like one of the reasons i am never big on Rotten Tomatoes
    People can be lemmings sometimes

Will check it out . . . but with a kind of open mind

I wish I could disagree with you, but I don't understand the praise either (and for the record I love horror movies and have been looking forward to this one for months). Solid, but far from great 6/10.

I think we can all agree that the director is a "sick F&*^"

Took the girlfriend to see it. Movie made me extremely anxious in the first half.

After that, I started checking the watch.

Just came back from the theater. This movie made absolutely no sense. The music was the scariest part. Pretty creepy themes. I spent more time laughing than anything else.

    3/10.

I'm a horror fan and thought it was great but never scary, just tense.

Honestly, though I think the reason for the massive positive reaction from the critics is because it in the style of a lot of classic horror films, Halloween and the original Nightmare on elm street.

The very start of the movie was pretty funny, with the girl running out of her house, running in a circle, running back in her house and then running back out again without the premise of the story being explained yet.

Then when the jogger was running and that guy freaked out and asked the group if they saw her had the whole theatre cracking up.

Then just the general stupidity of the movie is funny units self.

Hmm...just got out of the theater. Not sure how I feel about it.

This movie was absolutely perfect for me up until they got to the beach. Then it just became Paranormal Activity...

I'll give it a 6/10. Fun and original, then nosedived.

    This.
    This was incredibly wack movie.
This reminds me of how disappointed I was in The Blair Witch Project

Lots and lots of symbolism in the movie. Check out the Cannes review of it for more info.

Agreed that it wasn't very scary, but if you can stay attentive throughout the movie, the true themes from that review will make you really appreciate it. If you're looking for jumps and thrills, don't go watch this.
