The theme for the original Tomorrow People. My kids think it's the X-Files theme. They run for cover when they hear it! :)

A-Train, wasn't Vienna Calling also a hit by Falco (perhaps it was a minor one)....?

Actually, a lot of the "one hit wonders" (especially during the 80's), had long and successful careers over in Europe...

Of course, nobody cares what Europe thinks! :)

I see everyone has been watching their VH1 "100 Greatest One-Hit Wonders" religiously. :)

For the record, I love "One Night in Bangkok"... and, yes, that "500 miles" song (though I think the whole thing was set up to appeal to women... cute romantic type guys and all... so you guys probably won't think much of it).

Now, the scariest song: choose from anything by the aforementioned Michael Bolton or Celine Dion, anything by Britney or Christina, and especially the "wuss rock" genre. Christopher Cross, all those 70's tragedy songs (like "Seasons in the Sun, "Billy Don't Be a Hero", "Run Joey Run"). Certain stupid 80's songs ("Hot Hot Hot") and, of course, the Spice Girls.

I sure hope you mean the "Hot, Hot, Hot" by Buster Poindexter (AKA David Johannson of the New York Dolls) and not the classic Cure single from their Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me album.

Actually Der Kommissar was done first by Falco, but his lyrics were all in German.

After the Fire had the big hit with it though by taking the English language version to the top 10.

BTW - It's one of my favorite one-hit wonders of the '80's.

Seeing the theme of how the other songs have been picked here, I will go with "Tarzan Boy" by Baltimora (a guilty pleasure).

It was well-known for 2 reasons:

1) It was used in a Listerine commercial
2) Baltimora was like one of the first "pop music" stars to die of AIDS

J. Geils Band - Centerfold
John Waite - I Ain't Missing You
Kim Wilde - You Keep Me Hangin' On (one of my fav songs)
Kajagoogoo - Too Shy
Modern English - I Melt With You (token one-hit wonder)
Mr. Mister - Broken Wings (i guess "Kyrie" was a big hit too)

Apparently, Falco also recorded Der Kommissar. I thought that sounded right.....listed as a single in 82'. Rock Me Amadeus came out in 85'.

"Iron Man" by Black Sabbath is scary if played in a pitch black room...

And the video for "Black Hole Sun" used to give me nightmares.
