I threw my Lester doll away after that movie. Thats still the only movie i've ever been scared of. Of course I was about 10yr old.

Even though it was a comedy/horror film, Gremlins scared the hell out of me when I was 9. The main reason was the fact that they could use the AC vents to move through the house and I had an AC vent right above my bed.

I was also pretty freaked out by Piranha (written by John Sayles if you can believe it) when I was 11. After that, I refused to go swimming anywhere where the water was murky.

Do you mean Bram Stoker's Dracula or the Dracula film with Bela Lugosi? I don't think Lon Chaney Sr. (or Lon Chaney Jr.) ever did a version of Dracula, although Lon Chaney Sr. did do a vampire movie called London After Midnight (which has since been lost due to celluoid deterioration).

I rented 'The Ring' last Saturday based on the responses in this thread and was severely disappointed. What did you guys find so scary about it? There was only one real jumpy moment (the dead girl in the closet) and that was near the beginning of the film. It dragged on in the middle, and there were way, way, way too many plot holes, even for a horror movie. I mean, it was okay, but it definitely didn't live up to the hype, at least for me.

I think that there should be a difference between movies that freak you out and leave you wondering about things such as Spirits and movies that scare you while you are watching them.

For me, The Sixth Sense did both. The Ring kind had me spooked for a little bit. But I need some one to totally explain what was going on. What were those x-rays at the insane asylum? I didn't get it. I guess I just had too many questions afterwards for it to spook me too much, although when the girl comes out of the T.V., that was pretty scary.

Those were kind of like a type of film. Samarra can "burn" images onto things with her mind. I think its called thermography. She can put these images into people's heads as well. I got that from a Ring site full of info.

I spent like a day reading about all the other Rings in Japan and the reasons why things happend in the Ring. I was confused with the pictures as well.
