Go checkout Strangland. It is about a serial Killer who likes self mutilation. My Wife about shiit her self watching it.
Hey, let me know how that is, I have heard that Miike's stuff is crazy. I want to see "Three...Extremes" which also has a short or something directed by OldBoy's Chan wook Park. There's a disturbing movie too, OldBoy.
House on Haunted Hill (1999)- This was one twisted show -VERY GOOD HORROR FLICK Jeepers Creepers - Special Edition (2001) Texas Chainsaw Massacre - The Original
I have seen it and loved it.. I liked learning about the little things that the documentary had.. IE Clock Work is the second highest grossing movie all time for Warner Brothers right behind Gone With The Wind, I'd say it's good for a movie that came out with an X rating and was nominated for a few Academy Awards.. I also liked how Stanley wanted to use a outdated camera for filming that a studio only had 2 of and it turned out that they are now known as the best analog film cameras ever.. I also liked the part of how Stanley had a custom lens that were being used in NASA telescopes for his camera that allowed him to get such great looking film..
Yea, I know what you mean. I avoid that scene any time that movie is on. I guess one reason why Zelda is so scary is that she is actually a man with scary makeup on.
i would have wagered my paycheck that this would not be on anyone's list of scariest movies of all time.
The Town That Dreaded Sundown. Based on a true story about a serial killer in Texarkana in the 30's. My great-grandfather was the sheriff of Texarkana when it was happening, and I had heard stories about it from my grandmother. Maybe not the scariest movie, but it certainly scared the heck outta me. I slept in my big brother's room for a month after sneaking to watch it on cable (Pasadena Cinema 6)
I remember when i was like 6, my brother's girlfriend MADE me watch it. It was terrible, I couldn't sleep for a few days.
You guys are all p*****s. Nothing scares me... Except The Exorcist The Ring Texas Chain Saw Massacre The Shining wasn't so much scary as it had jumpy parts. The girls in the hall. The naked old chick and poor old Scatman getting it in the chest. The acting in Lost in Space was the scariest that I have EVER seen.
I'm sorry but I still can't find anything scary about The Ring. That scene in the end was ridiculous and not scary in the least. The best part about that movie was them showing the horse in the cage like a dinosaur in Jurassic Park and then it bursts out and jumps over the edge of the ship. That was hilarious! The Grudge was pretty stupid but I was in the right mood to watch it and with surround sound, it was pretty freaky. Anyone else get scared by Final Destination. It wasn't a jumpy movie but after seeing it, I noticed things for awhile that could just be considered coincedences before. Changed my outlook on somethings for awhile although the second one was crap.
My wife put her foot down. The Ring is banned from our house. My wife is not scared easily, but she doesn't want to take any chances buying a copy of it. The horse cracked me up. To me the scaries part of The Ring was that video montage itself.
Yeah I'll admit the opening sequence was pretty good but after that the movie just relied on jump scenes. I remembered another one too. Did anyone ever see The Others? It was really a movie you had to see in theatres to be scared at certain parts but man, that movie was creepy. In that last part with the old lady, I jumped out of my seat and spilled a drink everywhere. People around me where laughing so hard after that scare that we missed the ending.
I don't understand the Exorcist being on someones scary movie list. Or The Shining (my wife's all-time scary movie) or Omen. But hey - that's just me. Texas Chainsaw Massacre had the second most disturbing parts of a movie. That scene with the girl at the table with grandpa - over the line for me. It's low budget shots and noises seem to make the movie more real. But one of the most disturbing movies for me was I Spit on Your Grave. A B movie with a disturbing plot - not really scary but very disturbing. Halloween had some scary moments but Jamie dropping her weapon (coat hanger?) at the end after all she's been through and turning her back - that part was bad - but part of the movie. It's amazing that Halloween was a low budget film. But overall probably get's my vote for my scariest movie. Freddy and Jason movies had moments but you could develop a pattern in about 5 minutes that would stay with you through the next 10 sequels so they became more comical to which Scary Movie(1, 2, 3) and Scream used in their plots. Scary movies to me are only somewhat scary now if you are home alone, at night and window shades completely open. That sets the stage to make most real scary movies even scarier.
Word! This is a top notch movie. IMO, a 'great' horror movie has to disturb you on two levels: while you watch and after you watch. Lots of movies can deliver on the first part; only the classics deliver on the second. If you can get scared just thinking about the movie after it's over, you have a winner.
