I have TOTALLY been into them lately as well as Arcade Fire, Appleseed Cast, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Explosions in the Sky, Badly Drawn Boy, Built to Spill, and A Silver Mt. Zion. Really likin the orchestral/techno/trance stuff lately.
That was a cover of the original done by Golden Earring, which was much better IMO. My favorite version of that song was one done by a local band called The Missles, who played back in the late 80's and early 90's. They rocked.
Today, I've listened to: Zac Maloy-Saturday is Gone Cowboy Junkies-Lay It Down Gov't Mule-The Deep End, Vol. 1 The Tragically Hip-Road Apples Yesterday on the drive home: Phish-Round Room

oomp, Didn't read the article until just now. I really didn't like his first solo album, but I may check out Shine. I simply put it on during the ride home from work because it was such a beautiful day. Days like these turn my musical tastes to Phish, Widespread and other jam bands. I love it.
I haven't downlaoded them yet, but a bunch of Austin City Limits albums just popped up on emusic.com. So, in the next few days I'll be listening to ACL performances by: Richard Thompson Dwight Yoakam Steve Earle Susan Tedeschi Texas Tornados John Hiatt

Dr. Octagon was definitely wierd/trippy. i used to jam it back in the day, though. blue flowers was a cool track. i'm jamming to some Little Feat and Canned Heat (rhyming skills, yo) right now. damn fine music. anyone know the name(s?) of Little Feat's live album? i've heard it's phenomenal. good ol' fashioned rock.
I am curious why I haven't heard more people talking about the latest from Franz Ferdinand. I was scared to sing their praises too soon because I thought it might be a fluke. But now with You Could Have It so Much Better, these guys have shown they are for real. They might be the next Jam. This kind of consistency is hard to come by. Heck whole albums that are solid instead of just one or two songs are hard to come by. They have kind of a Jam/Josef K feel to them as well, and their quality. It is some quality material. I haven't been this happy about a band since Luna.
I am so with you, FranchiseBlade, about the new Franz Ferdinand. They rule and I'll put their first two albums up with anybody. Lately, I've been listening to a lot of history audiobooks. 48 lectures about the early and high middle ages and Simon Schama's 3 volume "A History of Britain." Party on.
