I have SBC and are in their system.

What I like about RR is that there is no contract and no "early termination fee".

I'm too scared of a contract to save 15 bucks a month.

Yeah screw DSL. I never like it and I was about to go to the dark side to save a few bucks. But since the Dark side cant give me what I need I will stay with cable because in the end it is still the better deal.

Your phone service really depends on where you live. Same with broadband. I've had no problems with SBC phone and DSL. It's been troublefree for the 6 or 7 months I've been using it. I had nothing but issues with Comcast cable service when I lived in Irving.

Well see when you have one phone line, its pretty even. But once you get 2 phone lines thats where the advantage with cable and VOIP come in. I pay 40 bucks for 2 lines with VOIP, instead of 70-80 a month with alltel.

I just found out I can get phone service, unlimited long distance in the US, 450 minutes of cell phone service from cingular, and 3 Mbit/ DSL service for around $99.

But we get basic cable for that much instead of 450 minutes. And 450 minutes is chump change these days (especially compared to basic cable). When they offer 3000 minutes then we can talk.

Also we can get up to 5 Mbit, and dont worry about what we use that speed for:D

SBC sucks ass. I cant wait until my year long contract is up so that I can ditch their ****ty service. I'll probably go with roadrunner and I may get vonage but probably not. I use my cell phone and thats it.

They do offer that, but it costs more. :)

I try not to use my cell phone too much. Cell phone plans, like Starbucks, are a dummfication of the nation. "I NEED 5000 MINUTES!!" -- um, no you don't. ;)

But then I couldn't survive with basic cable, so who am I to talk, I suppose. :D

I know the feeling, MB. I'm w/ Comcast right now and it's expensive.

But damn, their minimum download speed is 4Mbps.

And it goes as high as 6Mbps!

The internet is not nearly as much of a problem as the damn phone line. It doesnt work half of the time. The speed on DSL isnt terrible but it sure as hell isnt great. SBC is expensive too. I hate them and will never use them again no matter where I'm living.

Well Im a college student. And when Im off to school in the Fall we find it better not to keep a phone line in our apartment. This way 3000min for 50$/month makes sure I have enough minutes and I dont have to avoid pickin up the phone ever during the day.

Try the following when you're going to:

    Vonage Lingo

This is what's so odd... the download speed on DSL now is what the download speed on cable modem providers (like Comcast) was early last year. So did cable modem speeds suck early last year? :D

Hey, I'm a geek and 3 Mbit/sec is plenty fast for me. :)

My girlfriend and I split a package of 2000 minutes a month and we always have rollover minutes. I have about 6600 rollover minutes right now and just downgraded to Cingular's smallest family package to save some money and use up a bunch of our rollover minutes. I next to never use the damn home phone. I hate to waste that damn money.

Its plenty fast for me but I could tell the difference with load times for the pages. I know its a minor complaint and its something that I can live with. I'm more pissed off with the crappy phone service and how expensive it is. I cant wait to ditch it.

    Ok heres how it works.

    1. you can transfer your old number on there.
    2. you hook up this phone router they send you to your cable modem. and then to a phone.
    3. When the phone lines from your previous company is dead. and you cant hear a dial tone from your phone jacks. hook the router to one of your phone jacks. Then you get it through your whole house.
