This goes to show how intimidated the team is by Kobe and why most don't like the guy. Pao should have pushed Kobe back and stood up for himself.
He has a history of lashing out physically against his teammates but I can't believe he did it to Gasol. I thought he was safe being as his trade to the team elevated them. The honeymoon is over. Look at Gasol's body language ... Kobe shouldn't have shown him up like that in front of his teammates. Kobe needs people skills.
agreed. especially when kobe himself has not been able to elevate his level of play. i see the start of decline in kobe.
Is there a separate thread discussing this i'm missing -- if not someone should start it because this deserves it's own topic.
Great post, and points worth considering. But relative to who's on his squad and the level of passion they bring to the table I stick by my orignal post. Fair enough. (i actually laughed out loud) 'sall I'm sayin. But don't you have to find motivation wherever you can and make it work for you? Even if it is all about him he plays hard on both ends, tries to motivate (albiet a little overbearing), and will display extreme emotion when his team is eliminated (hopefully sunday afternoon). Maybe it's not the 'Heart of a Champion' as we've grown to love and respect, but I maintain it's heart nevertheless.
I agree with NIKEstrad and your assertion that he plays hard -- I think that it comes down to our definition of 'heart'. I just don't see the heart of a champion in Kobe.
I'll admit I chuckled when I saw it, but it was out of line because Kobe was found innocent of those charges.
Wrong. It never went to trial, Kobe paid off the accuser not to testify and then also to drop the civil suit. This was after he spent millions on lawyers and investigators to discredit her and leak out her name and photos, posted everywhere on the internet. He's guilty as sin as far as I'm concerned. I have no problem with anyone calling him a rapist.
Im surprised Gasol didnt even much reacted and told him to chill whatsoever and D fish just looked away... Teammates dont treat each other like that. Just shameful of kobe, that is not leader like.
remember 'sheed throwing a towel in sabonis' face in a timeout? i was so so shocked and disgusted by that.
During a Houston Chronicle online chat this season, Battier was asked if he could choose, which non-Rocket player he would like to play with. His answer was "Kobe Bryant. Because he's all about winning."
I feel sorry for Pau Gasol for letting Kobe push him on the head with such force. That's tortured to me.
This is the same guy who brags about his mantle of participatory trophies. "Sports isn't about winning, it's about being lovable." Get a clue.
What kobe did to Pau was nothing. MJ use to harass his teammates to no end. I dont know if yall watch MJ played or not, but what kobe did was just telling pau to f***kin play some d. I woulda done the same thing. I hate the guy, but he gives alot of effort trying to win games, unlike tmac who goes to interview and cries about it.
Read that ESPN article that compares Kobe to A-Rod. There is no better comparison in sports right now. Both of them have limitless talent, drive to excel, but have become anti-heros because of their utter obsession with image and inability to be genuine. Kobe is a walking "what would MJ do?". He is arrogant, tightly wound, contrived on his public displays of emotion, and to top it off he elbows fools left and right as a first sign of pouting. If he wins nothing again it will be because his teammates don't have his back and because he probably deserves it for falling into three championships his early years. I've got no sympathy for him and would choose to root for the Rockets any day over a team led by him.
